KFSE Kasilof '106.9 The Fuse'

Anyone had a chance to really listen to this station? Who would've thought a new rock station would've popped up on the Peninsula? I only heard a little bit coming back from Girdwood tonight, it sounds pretty good!

I don't know where their transmitter is, but driving on the Seward back from Girdwood - I got a clear stereo lock that quickly faded once I got around the mountains into Anchorage. To give you an idea of how much a radio nerd I am (rock radio nerd in particular), when my wife goes to Fairbanks this weekend, I'm going to take an afternoon drive down to a pull-off half way between Anchorage and Girdwood just to check them out some more. I like what I've heard so far, kinda jealous - it sounds like a more polished version of the now defunct X-Rock.

hahaha When I lived in southern PA I used to throw the dog and my Sony ICF 2010 in the truck and drive down to the swamps of Maryland and Delaware on weekends to try to catch Carolina and Georgia stations skipping over the ocean. Picked up Jacksonville FL that way once. There's a tower on the lower part of the Delmarva Penninsula - forget the town and the station, it's been years - where I'd pull off the road and use the stick's guy wire as an extended antenna on my radio to pick up stations (during the day!) from Detroit, New Orleans, and points west.

There are a lot of us radio nerds out there!

Hey, I was just going a quick google for "106.9 The Fuse" and stumbled across this thread. I'm the morning jock on The Fuse, David Sanders. Thanks for listening guys, or attempting to anyways!

Our transmitters are located in the Echo Lake area. Apparently they're fairly powerful.

This is my first time coming to this site, and I like it. I might pop on here fairly frequently, as I'm always looking for something to do during my morning show, heh.

Does the "Fuse" use translators anywhere else, on the Peninsula? I know Homer stations send out their signals to the Kenai/Soldotna areas, and maybe even Seward & Kodiak. I think some Kenai/Soldotna stations do the same for Homer, Seward and Kodiak. Does the new Movin' 104.9 from Anchorage reach the Kenai/Soldotna area? It is suppose to be licensed to Sterling, but I'm not sure they can even get it there. Is good to see radio expanding in Alaska.

Hey David - that's pretty cool that you came across this thread! I think it's great that a small market like the Kenai has its own rock station, for a long time classic rock was about the best you could expect out of a market that size! I wish you guys much luck with the format, I'd like to make my way to the peninsula one of these weekends before Summer ends, you live in a beautiful part of the state.
