KFWB's Joe Yocam

What happened to Radio DJ Joe Yocum of KFWB, famous during the 1960s?

I grew up listening and occasionally talking on the phone to Joe, who was very kind to a high school kid interested in doing what Joe did.

I grew up listening and occasionally talking on the phone to Joe, who was very kind to a high school kid interested in doing what Joe did.

Joe was the staff announcer for KCET-TV for a few years after leaving KFWB. He only lived six years after leaving KFWB, dying in March of 1974, just shy of his 56th birthday.
 
I wanted to add, that for me, in my "formative" years, and with all due respect for all the other incredible talent on possibly the country's greatest and highest rated "Top 40" station at the time, Joe Yocum, and Sam Riddle were THE voices of KFWB Channel 98...
