KFWR 95.9 The Ranch new tower

Looks like KFWR 95.9 The Ranch made the move to their CP:

http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/finder?sr=Y&s=C&call=kfwr&x=0&y=0

This weekend I noticed I could now listen to The Ranch at home and in my car around Lewisville with no sign of K240DS Garland. Even in west Plano where I work, The Ranch was listenable. I was curious if Garland 95.9 had shut down but it looks like it's due to KFWR's new digs :) Curious as to what things sound like closer to Garland...

gosh, MUCH better signal in FW

I live in North Dallas near the High Five and those two stations are hammering each other. If 95.9/Garland was NOT on the air, I'd receive KFWR clearly, no problem. As it is now, neither are listeneable.

Most places west of 75, it's a little choppy but comes in fine. I'm pretty pleased. It's my second-favorite station in Texas.

I can't believe I am picking this station up out here in Euless now. Few months ago, I heard nothing but static on 95.9.

Heard this in Plano yesterday and thought it was atmospherics. The Garland fake translator on 95.9 is still causing issues with it though.

Normally, the "real"station can report the interference to the FCC and the translator is forced off the air. The thing the licensed station needs is listeners who write in (email) letting them know where the interference is. The FCC usually requires the listener complaints to be submitted with the station complaint.

Short of "wardrobe malfunctions", does anyone even complain to the FCC anymore? There are so many other alternatives...

The post prior to yours summed it up fairly well. Complaints about interference by listeners need to be made to the station, not the FCC. The station then compiles all of them and files a formal protest to the FCC.

Believe it or not, the FCC has acted upon many such complaints. Here in Texas a translator in Austin was forced to find a new frequency after numerous listeners complained about interference to a station in San Antonio. It didn't matter that they were well outside the protected coverage area of the San Antonio station, just that significant listening to it had been "documented."

I sent an email to a few addresses I found on the ranch's site.

Didn't the current 99.9 translator first appear on 92.1? I seem to think KTFW and/or KXEZ got them to move.

The FCC is very well aware of the Garland translator. They've been on multiple different frequencies, "translating" many non-existent stations. I haven't found anyone who has a good word to say about the guy who owns/runs said translator. I have found plenty to the contrary.
