KFXK and "Anchorwoman"...

Anyone know if KFXK has decided whether or not to air "Anchorwoman"? It's scheduled to premiere August 21st and Fox is running promos for it. If I were the GM, I would say no.

I've been reading these posts about the Anchorman actress after hearing it from a former co-worker of mine who now works in Houston. I have to say I find your market rather hilarious; it must be a very sorry state of affairs when the Raycom owned KLTV is actually the best station in town. ::)

Actually, KLTV news has been on top of the heap long before they were even a blip on Raycom's radar.

KLTV has always been number one, and always will. They provide a quality product, and East Texans are pretty set in their ways.

By the way, my first rule of business is never to take any guff from someone who lives in Houston. Anyone who lives where the air can cause mutation is not someone I want to hang out with.

As for "Anchorwoman," the word I got from a higher-up at KFXK was that they were choosing to not run the show before filming even began. They have the option to not run a certain amount of hours of national programming every season, and are exercising that right on "Anchorwoman."

That's probably a good idea, if East Texans are going to be half as upset as they said they were, you don't want to get caught in the backlash.

Thanks for the info. It figures Raycom couldn't make a station #1 on their own. Better cross your fingers that the quality remains the same as Raycom stations usually end up running shoddy operations and enjoy looking at the very bottom line. It may sound like so many other stations these days, but Raycom does it worse. Need proof? Look over towards WOIO, or to the stations they have destroyed, namely WTOL and KOLD.

Eh. KLTV has been bought and sold so many times in the last fifteen years I've lost track. New owners, new mandates, new promises, same old results.

That and they had a thirty-year head start over all the others in the area....

I have also heard KFXK will block it and KYTX may air it.

I wished all stations with journalistic integrity would block the show. Then again, what does Fox know about news?! Yeah, I went there.

Yeah, and I was gonna post something on what it says about KYTX if they actually air the show...

According to Phil Hurley...he has permission from CBS and Fox to air the show on 19. He said this during one of those "PrimeTalk" segments at 5 a few weeks ago. Interesting CBS would let him do that. They would be shifting "Power of 10" in which CBS has spent a ton of money promoting.

Not sure about that, I was told before she came to town that CBS wanted all traces of their logos and branding removed from the shows where she was going to be appearing. Could have been a rumor, I guess, I didn't pay enough attention to it to be certain.

It's possible, I guess, but I don't see what CBS would get out of the deal.

i dont think cbs will get anything out of it... but KYTX did strip themselves of all things CBS on their anchor pins, mic flags, set, backdrops, etc... I just think it is an exception for fox/cbs to allow it to air in Tyler, since networks allow affils to cover a certain amount of network per year

There's no telling if CBS actually did give the go ahead for KYTX to air the "Anchorwoman" series. Hurley makes up his own rules as he goes, and he's so delusional as to think simply becase he says it, it's true.

What a sad commentary on the state of affairs.

I do know it is possible, because when I was at KFXK in the early 90's, KLTV refused to air NYPD Blue, it's first season. So, being the progressive station we were, KFXK picked it up. The only thing I am not sure of, is being able to bump one network's programming for another. We aired NYPD Blue in it's normal timeslot, but FOX had no programming from 9pm-10pm. I don't know if CBS would be ok with bumping their programming to air a FOX show. Given the outrage, I think I'd want to daypart this show, put on late at night or weekends.
