KFXY 1640 Now "Faith 1640"

I'm sure people will stop listening to KJTH, KLVV, K Love, Air-1 in droves and enjoy this new AM station. Sort of like in ~1996 when WKY flipped to a smiliar format (part-time).

One difference between WKY's part time Christian programming and 1640's is that there was no contemporary Christian outlet on air in OKC when WKY tried it. There are now many ccm outlets in the metro, which may make it much harder for 1640 to sell.

Sounds like a placeholder to me. LOL!

WWDED... What Would Doctor Evil Do? I can see the wristbands now.

Does anyone else find it rather irronic that Dr. Evil keeps putting Godchannels on the air as placeholders? Odd.... very very odd...

KFXY's not running CCM. According to the website http://www.knid.com/default.asp they are running Salem's "Solid Gospel" Southern Gospel & Praise format instead. They could make a little money if they promote it locally first and snag some "hollar for a dollar" ministers.

Southern Gospel does seem to be a format (& an audience) all to its own... I don't suspect there'll be a lot of overlap with ANYBODY, & those listeners might be retired, with deep pockets.. witness The Oasis Network, started in Broken Arrow years ago, now with repeaters in a number of places across the country thanks to their listeners.

It shouldn't be expensive to run, & may generate some income for them. It ain't "cool," but it may be profitable.

Isn't that format on an FM in Green Country somewhere, maybe up around Bartlesville? Seems like I've gotten a "pure gospel" or "true gospel" or something like that around 103.9, north of Tulsa. (I'm working from memory, so that could be 102.9 for all I can recall...) They recently did some sort of beg-a-thon, & a lot of the money seemed to be coming from this area (on the national feed).

It's not a bad fit. I don't think anyone in OKC is playing this kind of music daily. And with that big night pattern that skips into Texas easily, they'll probably get some national programs on it soon.

That would be KOSG 103.9, which is, I believe, licensed to Pawhuska. It was purchased by the now-bankrupt Tallgrass and was co-owned with the 102.9 out of Independence, KS that you're probably thinking of. Tallgrass sold it to a religious broadcaster a year or two ago. I can't remember who they sold it to, but the same owner had several non-commercial southern gospel and religious stations. I'm thinking one was in Ada, but I'm not certain.
