KFYI gets Beck

Just read that KFYI gets Glenn Beck for nights 7-10 replacing Savage beginning 10/17. So that begs the question who gets Becks time slot (12-3) at KTAR. I for one can't stand Beck and so I don't like anything on KFYI am happy to see him go but I wonder what KTAR will do.

Beck is awful, Michael Savage is awful X2.

Net gain? I'll still not listen.

KTAR, what is out there syndicated that is available? They can get anyone from KKNT's lineup, 960 is so anemic, they can't hold on to anything.

Knowing the brain trust at TAR, they will play the previous night's Dave Ramsey re-run. The hillbilly trash eats that stuff up.

What about Dave Ramsey? His show is live (now) 11 AM-2 PM, which means noon-3 PM
starting in early November. During DST, KT'R could either run two hours live, then the
first hour, or delay the whole show an hour.

Does any adult listen to radio after 7pm? And for that matter, does anyone under the age of 65 listen to Ancient Modulation?

Two stories here: 1) the free fall of Glenn Beck and 2) the opportunity for KT'R to be "live, local and first" between 5am and 7pm.

Nurse Jeff and I are reminded of this pearl from Yogi Berra....It's deja vu all over again!

I for one enjoy Beck.
I cannot stomach Bruce St. James (studdering whiner) or Mac & Gaytoes. (they sound like high school radio wannabees that just talk over each other)
No talent, an easy job.

Dave Ramsey show gets old real quick, They seem to run the same shows over & over. I heard the same caller/conversation several times in one week.

The guy who deserves the best time slot is Jim Sharpe. He is one of the most talented enjoyable & knowledgeable talk show hosts in the valley.

Which is why I no longer think that KFYI will move to FM, at least not in its present form. CC seems to be set on going after the geezer demos (who else bothers with KFYI and KOY?) on two of their three AM stations. If they ever lose the games on Westwood One, there will be no reason whatsoever to bother with XTRA 910 either.

OMG Chuck Powell. ahhhhhh their is a GOD and thank you KTAR... .phewwwww wow. i am so happy I could scream ;-)

Thank God 92.3 KTAR is giving us great, local programming! http://www.ktar.com/?sid=1459653&nid=6

Wow! Finally one of the Big 2 is going back to Live, Local, First in the early afternoon! Good luck to Karie and Chuck.

No mention of the status of Vince & Chuck on KDUS website, their website, Twitter feed or Facebook page. In another post, we talked how V&C was the only local morning sports radio show in the market.

Also, the article announcing the pairing is interesting. KTAR named every Valley radio station that Chuck has been on, including his current job. Normally it would be "Chuck has been in radio over 20 years, with the last 10 being in Phoenix."

Thumbs up to KTAR for this move! I have not been a fan of KTAR the last few years since they dropped all local talk after 7:00 P.M. and the airing of nationally syndicated Glenn Beck and Dave Ramsey. I really like Chuck Powell and am sad to see him go from his current home on KDUS (IMO, Chuck is at his best when he's talking sports), but I'm excited for his new show with Karie in the afternoons.

According to the link, Chuck is "currently wrapping up his KDUS show, Chuck & Vince Live." I guess this means that Chuck & Vince Live will be no more come the end of the month. I wonder what KDUS will replace it with?

Now if we could only get KTAR to drop the talk during the drive home for all-news, I'd be a loyal KTAR listener once again!

Smart move for KT'R...almost makes up for the Tony Snow disaster a while back. Almost.

Now to GB. Ratings plunged on FOX, so he starts his own subscription web channel. After a couple of weeks, he's giving away the first two weeks free. Hmmmm...the Nurse and I smell something quite similar to Oprah's OWN channel a cookin'

Probably One-on-One Sports Sporting News Radio Yahoo Sports Radio in the short term, but hopefully they'll provide a new home for Mark Asher, either with Vince Marotta or on his own show.

Smart move. Now if they could only do something about all the annoying hearing-aid spots. Which demo is KTAR targeting, exactly, and will Chuck and Karie be doing the "miracle quiz," too? Good news for them - and for those of us who currently flee the station between 12-3 - but not the best news for the geezer demo if KTAR wants the show to succeed.

So did KTAR drop Beck or did Premiere muscle him off to help a Clear Channel station (KFYI)? What's replacing him on KTAR? A live/local talker???

Karie Dozer & Chuck Powell will take Beck's spot at the end of this month. Big losers in this deal are KDUS (they're losing a good morning show - the only AM sports show that's local) and KFYI (will anybody younger than 60 bother with this station anymore?).

I like that KTAR is moving away from the older demo and targeting a younger demo. The only gripe I have with this addition is having the morning news on for all morning. I could see possibly like 4-7 or something but not till 9. I do tune in, get my updates and off I go to other stuff. That though is just a small gripe. I enjoy Bruce, I know I will love Powell and Dozier, Mac and cheese, well they are entertaining for a bit so yeah totally psyched for this new line up.

I wonder if Asher tested with Dozier or was he passed over? Did KTAR check "within the family" before they hired Powell?

Seeing as how he was abruptly pulled off the air in August and will be let go when his contract expires at the end of the year, I'm guessing that he was not considered for the position or was not interested in it.
