KFYI host fired on-air in the 90's?

Google's useless on this one - wasn't there a weekend host on 550 AM who was fired on the air? Does anyone know what I'm talking about? And are there any airchecks of it? Timeframe would have been late-80's/early-90's when "Blow Out The Phones" was still a thing - that "era" of the station.

I don't know much about Phoenix radio, other than what I've been following for years by reading the hilarity coming from the lush shag interior of a 1976 AMC Gremlin, but wasn't KOY still churning out Sinatra n' Friends at 55 kilocycles in the late 80's-early 90's?

May be the reason The Google is letting you down. Just a thought.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but a quick search of Phoenix, KFYI, and host fired on-air brought this link to the forefront.

John Dayl? That would have been circa 1996.

And KOY was exiled to 1230 in 1999. Originally it was replaced by sports-talker KGME. KGME and KFYI swapped dial positions a year later.

Who didn’t get fired by Fred Weber?

Everybody 209!
Guess Bob Mohan and The Nearly Bald One, Barry Young, figured a way to suck up to The Beer Baron and escape the firing squad. He went thru talent a ton of talent during his ownership of 9~Ten and 92~Three.
