KFYI on 104.7 this afternoon

For about six minutes late this afternoon (approx. 5:35pm-5:41pm), audio from KFYI (550) was heard on KZZP (104.7 Kiss-FM).  Apparently, it occurred in the middle of a traffic report on Kiss.

Kiss runs its "Most Requested" show during the 5pm hour.  The program sounds automated...can anyone confirm that it is?

The timing of this mishap is ironic, considering the recent posting here suggesting that KFYI may move to FM someday.

I think it has to be automated. I mean, they use like what, 3 DJ's to do this countdown or something?? Pretty lame if you ask me. Not like requests are actually taken into consideration anyway!

I was listening to the nearly bloated one--JD "Boss Hog" Hayworth--and suddenly heard KEZ after the traffic report. Oddly enough, the feed on KFYI and what was live on KEZ did not match. ???

When KFYI returned back to 550, the nearly bloated one--JD "Boss Hog" Hayworth--was interviewing Bob Burns on the newsmaker line. JD made no mention of the audio snafu (I doubt he knew what had happened) and continued on as if nothing happened.

Good times on Cheap Channel stations this afternoon! It reminded me of the old KPHO news casts with Linda Turley & Roger Downey and all the technical snafus we came to know and love. ;D

I heard the KFYI / KEZ mixup, too. It was odd that the KEZ feed heard on 550 was not the same as what was on 99.9. Coincidentally, I was also listening to XTRA for a while and KOY audio came up for a few minutes. I flipped over the 1230, and it WAS the same thing going out over KOY's signal. Very odd stuff. Computer gremlins on 44th Street.....

I was listening Sunday at 6 a.m. Fox TOH news and Purity Products infomercial were playing on top of each other, the full 4 (?) minutes of the news. I concluded there was no one in the building to pull the plug on one of them. My guess is that their computer isn't smart enough to know you should only play one thing at a time. Maybe they need better software?
