Palm Springs KGAY-AM up for sale

I saw on a broker site that 1270 KGAY has been listed for sale since Sept 4. It has served as the primary station for KGAY's 106.5 translator, and still currently linked to.

KGAY-FM 92.1 Thermal, can now be the primary station. Eliminating the cost and need for the AM. Good luck, if they can find a buyer.

BTW, the same broker site has KXO AM//FM El Centro up for sale, also.

106.5 woudl extend 92.1s coverage area, so it cant be owned by the same people, but theres ways around that, apparently

I love that nighttime directional pattern. It goes everywhere except within the market.

The day signal does not even cover most of the market, either. Sand is a lousy conductor of radio signals.

@KilowattKat Can you provide a link?
According to @Michi's site, neither KMEE or KGAY-FM are licensed HD.
I wouldn't use that as a gauge. Quite a few stations have not filed digital notifications with the FCC and there's nothing stopping a station from upgrading to an HD transmitter. But as mentioned the translator cannot legally be fed by KGAY-FM so it would have to be KMEE.

This was always what I thought the long term plan was with the Purchase of KKCM

This is odd, 93.1 K226BT Indio, is still linked to KGAY-AM. It was sold to a Spanish language religious operator a few years ago, and rebroadcasts KHCV-FM.

KMEE HD2 Palm Desert is now broadcasting KGAY FM. I was just in Palm Springs this weekend. They even mentioned it at the top of the hour.

This is interesting....a change of call sign was submitted today for AM 1270. The new calls are KFSQ. First thing that came to mind is Foursquare Church, which used to own 96.3 FM in LA.

It was the call letters on 1270 from 2013 to 2016 when it was "Fox Sports".

According to a DXer in Palm Desert, 1270 is now Fox Sports.

The broker site has 1270 as under agreement, as opposed to being sold. I assume that means it's an LMA for KFSQ.
No, that's not what that means. It means, quite literally, that a potential buyer has signed an agreement (usually in the form of a letter of intent) to buy the station and therefore it's off the market until either an assignment application is filed with the FCC or that would-be buyer pulls out for whatever reason.

Got it! Thank you.
