KGBN-AM 1190

According to Wikipedia, 1190 is a clear channel for KEX and for XEWK/Guadalajara, Jalisco but not for KGBN. Radio-locator shows KGBN operating at only 1,300 watts at night and 20,000 watts day.

Oddly I remember KEX's nighttime signal promo from the early '80s saying "From Anchorage to Anaheim".......

Well times changed

I've heard KGBN under KEX at the Oregon Coast late night-early morning. I can also get CFSL in Weyburn, Sask in the null of KEX locally at times, which never used to happen.

During my stay in the USAF near Anchorage, I can vouch for that part! Other Portland area stations heard (1978-80) were 620, 970, 1330 and 1520. There is a local on 1080, so that was out.

If KEX goes to FM only like KXL, Will the new station on 1190 get class A status or get bumped off??

I doubt the KEX will go FM only. They are using a 99 watt translator now on 102.3, however all of the Clear Channel FM stations are doing well in Portland so I doubt they would sacrifice one of them.
