KGCX 93.1

Does anyone have an info on KGCX FM 93.1 The Eagle in Sidney,Mt.The station had a website that is now down.Last visit to the site showed they cut back their on-air staff to only 5am-1pm.An e-mail from them stated they may add staff later.That was about 7 months ago.
 
I have a friend who handles MMA fights and stuff in that area. He said the guy from the morning show is the only one there now. He's the only sales rep, on-air, and GM there now. I guess they have an office lady too. But he said a couple years ago they were live 6a-6p with a full sales staff.

It can't be because they aren't meeting sales goals. That area is rich.

Is this the one owned by Williston stations or something different?
 
Eagle 93 is part of the Marks Group. Marks also owns 101 Jack FM in Williston. Their competition in the Williston/Sidney Market is Cherry Creek Radio which owns 660 KEYZ & 96.1 FM in Williston and Power 95 in Sidney.

There is advertising money out there, I just don't know how successful Eagle 93 is at this moment in capturing it for themselves.
 
He said Williston isn't even man'd at all. There's an office person only. It's all voice-tracked Out of market. Sidney is too now. I guess Marks owns Miles City, Forsyth, and Glendive. I wonder if they are the same too. That whole company must be going down hill or something. It'll probably be for sale soon. I heard Glendive is the main problem all together. Brandon, my buddy who's from Glendive, said radio around there is a joke.
 
Williston is running the original Jack FM format, so there's not even any real voice tracking, just plenty of "Jack" liners.

KFLN is running live & local as always on 960AM and they have a live morning show on The Rock and they are using a satellite format for the rest of the day, but they are at least customizing the satellite as much as possible to make it sound good.

I spent some time in Billings in November and December and heard some awful train wrecks on KBLG & KBUL. KBLG had dead air at 10am one day when the transition from Northern Broadcasting's Montana talk show didn't flow seamlessly into Fred Thompson. And at 5pm one day I heard spots on top of other audio for about 5 minutes on KBUL. Both stations were obviously running unmanned & unmonitored at least for a while.
 
I know that Williston used to have WRN-Waitt Radio Networks (now Dial Global). They usually had voice tracks, but I'm sure that costs a pretty penny and Marks didn't care to pay it.

As for the dead air stuff going into Northern Broadcasting. That's common all over because everyone's automation system downloads the programs automatically, but it's never exact. I can't believe Billings would have that. If you're in a market like Billings, bust your ass to put a product out there that's worth it to advertisers. That's sad.
