KGIL Bringing Doo-Wop to L.A.

Actually back in the K-Surf days they had a weekend Doo-Wop show hosted by John Regan. I rediscovered a lot of long forgotten groups and recordings. I am looking forward to hearing this again.

What exactly is the current format of KGIL AM 1260/ AM 540? Over the past several years it seems like the format changed every couple of months. Talk, Big Band standards, Oldies, Country & newsradio. Are both frequencies the same or have they been split? When I lived in San Diego in the 60's, Dick Whittington or Whittinghill was the AM drive hoston KGIL AM 1260. At that time it was an Adult/Pop sound. I live in the Las Vegas valley area now and have a hard time picking up either frequency unless it is around sunrise/sunset.

Not quite a format flip every couple of months but it sometimes seemed that way. My understanding is the the 540 simulcast was dropped and it is only on 1260 now. To satisfy your curiosity as to what it now sounds like go to the following:
