KGLK: You might want to reconsider calling yourself "Classic Hits"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classic_hits. I know it's only a Wiki article, but according to them: "Variations of the core playlist vary greatly and include playlists composed of only pop-leaning classic rock. Others, while indeed leaning rock, also feature some soul, and Motown music as well. Most "classic hits" stations are heavy on music from the 1970s, with a moderate amount of music from the 1960s, and a decent amount of hits from the 1980s."

Either quit kidding yourselves and just call yourselves "classic ROCK" or make the change.

I'm still not listening

However, if you go with my second option, I might. ;D

I've thought this for some time now. The Eagle is classic rock, not classic hits. I heard some songs this weekend I had not heard in awhile. Someone must have tapped into the wrong server.

Classic hits is what they call the former oldies format, as it has morphed to more 70's and 60's. KGLK is NOT classic hits. It is a really bad mix of overplayed songs. Classic rock comes in two flavors, early and late - something Sirius XM realized early on. I think there would be room for two classic rock stations in Houston - if one concentrated on 60's and 70's album rock, and the other concentrated on 80's and 90's. Of course neither would be "classic hits".

I'm not listening, either.

Yeah the station is a wreck. I refuse to listen. KKRW is better in my opinion but they could also improve on some things as well but at least they know what Classic Rock is.

Yeah there is literally nothing to talk about in Houston radio lol it's so boring lately!

It's true. Problem is that there is plenty of room for 80s and 90s rock. Not the overplayed Bon Jovi and Def Leppard songs. KKRW should really take a peek at their sister station's playlist via KZEP in San Antonio. They have a nice blend of 60s through early 90s AOR and play the usuals of KKRW in addition to Judas Priest, April Wine, Triumph, Skid Row, more Rush, Donnie Iris, Iron Maiden, Twisted Sister, ect. Much better CC classic rocker IMO. That's what's missing on classic rock here. If The Arrow goes in this direction, The Eagle will fly away. If they also get rid of W&J, then I would be a loyal listener.

The problem is corporate ownership of clusters of stations. Radio went downhill rapidly when this was allowed. Roll it back to two stations per market, max and you'll hear better radio.

Is this the station that's running two 100kW FM's that are next door neighbors on the dial in simulcast mode? How does that work anyway?

How does that work?...simply plugging in a couple of patch cables and laying off the entire staff of a whole station.
