KGNC vs. 940

For a market smaller than Lubbock, these two stations sound very big league! KGNC is sounding a lot like KRLD, more and more over the past few days, especially in the morning. Meanwhile, Townsquare's New Talk 940 is all syndicated, but seems to be running CBS News. Did this affiliation just happen, or am I just noticing it now?
