I'm a big fan of Christine ... except she is always "correct" on everything, (even if you don't ask her.)
I like the thought of a woman on the air. Of late, I've come to like fire-breathing Pat Thurston. She, at least, questions a caller's credentials, where, often, Christine dismisses an opposite opinion or even those who agree with her.
I beg Jack Swanson, who apparently "likes" the "outrageousness" of Charles "Karel" Bouley to please come to grips and dismiss this fool.
It would be interesting, as a dark horse, to see Melanie Morgan bring her act to KGO. An interesting fit between Gene Burns and Ray Talliferro. She could handle it.
While I don't think that a talk show host needs to have callers who agree with them, I think that purposely dismissing callers puts the host in the unenviable position of not being "a listener" but, rather "I'm right ... you're wrong." I think it goes both ways. Set the tone, get your point out (on both sides) and don't condescend callers for not agreeing with you. Show them the errors of their ways then move on ... but be respectful.
Makes the "fireworks" (when they occur) really stand out and makes for great radio. Gene Burns is a master at it. When he gets into a tirade with a moron, you know it ... and the night lights up. Ray makes it sound like a "rant" -- as does Christine.
John Rothman is, truly, too good for that position. His show about Ward last night was one for the ages. The man "ached" for three solid hours, but was a professional and a touch of class. I think he'd go over the head of many five nights a week, which is why his weekend shows are so good.
But please, Karel needs to go back being a Britney-chasing paparazzi ... or a dog groomer. He also needs to get married for real and stop asking for man-dates on the air. Plus, he is so under-informed about most everything. He's not liberal, he just pretends to be, as he doesn't mind letting supposition get in the way of facts.
