I was just PMing with a certain someone here on R-I, and the topic of this weekend's KGO Leukemia Cure-A-Thon came up. This year's Cure-A-Thon is the station's 29th, and they've raised more than $16-million for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society over the years. I mentioned that I think it's the most important thing that any radio station in the Bay Area does, and if you've got ears, you should tune in, be entertained, and give, give, give.
It doesn't say it on their website, but I believe that the Cure-A-Thon begins at 7 PM on Friday night (April 3) and runs for 24 hours until Saturday evening.
Some of the most interesting items being offered are directly KGO-related, such as mighty Mike Amatori's latest "greatest bits" CD, "Stop Me Before I Produce Again." I've heard most of it, and if you're a fan of radio, this belongs in your collection:
