KGOW and the other Sports stations

As someone who spends several hours a day driving, or maybe standing, in traffic, I really appreciate all the sports stations. When KGOW first came on the air, they were crystal clear over in my neighborhood, which is Pecan Grove. As a matter of course, since my car has one of those antennas in the windshield, I was quite surprised at their clarity. However in the past week or so, they are barely listenable (yep, with 35 years in radio I can make up words). I have also noticed that 610, 790, are now very close to being covered by static. With my old car 97.5 was barely breaking through the static, now they are fairly clear.

I guess all this is to say, I hope KGOW get's it act together, and to the engineers of 610 and 790, you have a problem.

Perhaps it is something local to your area. Some of the electric companies are going
to start offering broadband internet over the electrical lines. I understand in areas where they do that it can cause problems like this.

Old Chicago

I've noticed a problem too with radio reception.. You know all the rain we've had the past week? A lot of the older electrical transformers are arcing over causing the static. It has nothing to do with the transmitters. It has been worse on the lower end of the dial at 610 and 790.

Its just that KGOW has a bad signal everywhere and the slightest lighning static buries them all over Houston.
