KGOW Encoding

As a point of reference, I will quote part of a post from "thegame" last June:

thegame said:
So using personal relationships – oh boy this one is tough – Personal Relationships are these non-legal bindings that two people have. They are like a hybrid between a friendship and a business partner. Radio stations that do not encode for PPM use Personal Relationships to sell commercials and sponsorships. They are built on a foundation of trust and common goals. You know what – we will save that one for another semester. Moving Forward…

Guess the "personal relationships" theory isn't working out. Advertisers might want some semblance of solid data, not hearsay, especially in a rotten economy.

They failed to meet the minimum standard for being listed in the "book."

I heard they failed to get the encoder set up in time for the November book. What a bunch of morons.

Yeah, learned from their engineer that their official start date was November 13, so we will see where they really stand in the December book...

Good goin' KGOW. May your agency (local & nat'l) revenue be grand or grands!

(BTW: Please do not sub those clowns for John & Lance that you used this AM. Simply unlistenable.)

It was magnificence in excelcius.

It's going to be incredibly satisfying to see the December ratings. Amazing how a station that was predicted by all of the resident experts to be dead and/or dying for the last 18 months is still around. Guess those 4 listeners that 1560 has are pulling their share of the weight.

Maybe all 4 will have PPM meters, then 1560 will kill in the ratings! Plus the 3000 signed up on the website and that have their own station events with other listeners. Station will be done by Thanksgiving '08...oh wait ::)

True enough. I'm sure all these radio insiders have it right. God knows, I haven't met a single person who even listens to the show. Wait. I'm sorry. I've met hundreds of them. But they weren't really devoted listeners. Just M-F 7a-6p.

BTW, for those of you who are calling yourselves "radio insiders"... watching Private Parts 30 times does not really qualify.

How do these posts from 2007 show up? All that Granato-crap is a year old. Humorous that those posts predicted KGOW's demise and yet the station is still on the air. Could it be that we rushed to judgment? Is there hope for independent radio? Always hard to admit you are wrong
