KGOW

Just curious if KGOW has started construction of its new XMTR site near Jersey Village. If not, they better hurry up, I see the CP expires July 19.

Old Chicago

Here's another KGOW item. The 6+ PPM monthly shows KGOW at a 0.6 share. That ties it with both KFNC and KHJK. All things considered, this could be one of those "little engine that could" stories.

I thought it was closer to Katy. Where is the location?

You could very well be right. Unless CC stops watering down KTRH, KGOW could become the "real" sports-talker in town. They certainly have the 50 kW day signal to do it. And, some might say that the night signal isn't going to do much. But, no one AM in town covers the entire market at night anyway.

My only concern about that is even though the night signal is 19K, that groundwave won't get far before there's some skywave/groundwave cancellation ... maybe not far past downtown. The eastern half of the metro might have some issues.

I agree with the earlier comment: no AM night signal in Houston can cover this whole, spread-out Houston metro. After a slow start, KGOW got its day signal right (in fact, quite good up here in the Woodlands), and their night signal be very competitive with the other leading AMs. I don't like all their shows, but it is good to see them do well against the big monsters in town.
