Iowa KGRS applies for new site (Burlington)

This application landed today at the FCC: KGRS (107.3) is proposing to move west-northwest from its current site near West Burlington and onto a new, higher tower (199m [~650'] HAAT vs. 131m [430']). The ERP remains the same, 100 kw. The predicted coverage maps indicate there will be substantial improvement of KGRS's signal to the west of Burlington, particularly in Washington, Fairfield, and Keosauqua, with Mt. Pleasant getting a city-grade signal; at the cost of slightly less coverage on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River, particularly around Galesburg. Interesting move.

It looks like the present tower is also the KBUR (1490) tower, owned by Pritchard Broadcasting, which I believe is more or less the same ownership as Titan Broadcasting.

You can see this through the "Tower Payload" lookup on fccdata.org - with the caution is that it just reflects the underlying FCC data, which doesn't always appear to be up-to-date.

owned by family members of the same family, in the same building in burlington, suite 300 and suite 310

The current KBUR/KGRS tower is in an area with a lot of retail and industrial, so it has development potential. Burlington's trade area extends farther to the west than east (due to Galesburg and the Quad Cities), so it's a good move signal-wise. KBUR will need a new home, but has a translator, so a reduced signal would be less of an issue.
