KGSR should be ashamed

Of using the "Radio Austin" positioning statement. I was in town this weekend and listened off and on. I was shocked at how bad the music is. I heard INXS and Counting Crows a combined 4 times I think...that was just punching in and out. I heard no Lyle Lovett, no Lucinda Williams, no Willie Nelson, nothing at ALL that would lend itself to being "Radio Austin" or even a generic AAA station. No Elvis Costello, Neko Case, or anything...nothing but a bad attempt at a "Modern AC" station. Why would they change so much? Were the revenues not there? Is chasing a lil more billing worth losing ALL credibilty as a music lover's station? OK...rant over...but I was REALLLLLY surprised at how bad it was

So KGSR should be ashamed that they are NOT playing music that nobody cares about, or music that got them miserable ratings? Seems since the change they have been going up.

They should be ashamed of using the "Radio Austin" moniker. They have completely changed the station to a mainstream Modern AC, yet still wanna stand on the heritage that Jody Denberg and Co. have built over the last 20 years. They took something that you could truly only get in Austin and made it into a Wal-Mart radio station. Nothing wrong with going more mass appeal...but don;t try to fool anyone. Blow it up and change the calls, logos, and everything

You're reading a lot into "Radio Austin." I worked at KNOW back when it was "Austin Radio." The music was adult contemporary and it had a heavy news commitment. "Radio Austin" does not conjure images of Austin's live music scene. Just like "Austin Radio," it's simply an effort to identify the station with the city.

Im not so sure about that and here's why, "Radio Austin" I think does bring up Austin's live music scene because for years they were heavily apart of it. They played local Austin artists and they hosted or were at least sponsored many concert events in this city. They were heavily involved with SXSW and showcased a lot of the music that made Austin known for. I can see Johnqdoe's point that it really does not fit the station now especially for those who knew it back when it was truly "Radio Austin".
