KGTV (ABC) in San Diego

It finally hit me last night at the gym where they have TV monitors at the lifecycles that you NEVER see KGTV (ABC) here in San Diego ever use their call letters or their old moniker "San DIego's 10." They are now "10 News."

> That's typical these days - in the Bay Area we have "UPN Bay Area" and "The Bay Area's WB" as brands, though the 44 and 20 logos (respectively) still appear faintly at the bottom of the screen. Call letters are never used, except for the legal ID at the top of the hour, and they only appear on screen for a few seconds. And the titles for news programs are now all just "(brand name) News" with the exception of KPIX (er, sorry - "CBS5" which is sticking with Eyewitness News. I'm surprised KGTV hasn't defaulted to "ABC10 News" like most other network affiliates. They are ABC, correct? I believe they were NBC when I was a kid and used the KOGO call letters. We could pick up their signal in ths foothills of northern LA.

I believe you are right.

These days I don't know what to make of them. THeir news anchors are not very strong, and if anything, they really come off someimtes as a college TV station.

They went by 10News in the late 80's/early 90's.
