KGUN airs Antenna TV on 9.4, LWN on 9.5?

I have a new Vizio 22 inch HDTV that offers nothing in terms of electronic program guide, except what's on now. But I get Channels 9.1, 9.2 and 9.3, which are: ABC, Antenna TV and LWN.

I have a Digital Stream converter box that has a great look into the future on its electronic program guide (EPG) and I should have left it alone. It listed 9.1, 9.2, 9.3 as : ABC, Mexi, LWN, but the EPG for 9.2 carried the program schedule for Antenna TV.

I had what I wanted, I should have left it alone.

My HDTV calls it Classics, this box calls it Mexi. Rescan the box.

Now every channel I get from Phoenix and from Tucson, about 64 channels, lists themselves as I have known them. Except channel 9.

I now have 9.1, KGUN 9 ABC network, proper title, proper EPG.
I now have 9.4, Antenna TV network, blank title, NO EPG.
I now have 9.5, Living Well network, blank title, NO EPG.

I try to go to 9.2, it doesn't exist.

So I pulled the antenna from the box and did a rescan. No channel data, I cannot go anywhere.

Put the antenna back on, and did a rescan. Everything except 9 comes back. I have 9.1, 9.4, 9.5 again.

I did a factory reset. The startup wizard came up prompted for language, time zone, did a scan.

Same thing again: 9.1, 9.4, 9.5.

There is one thing I can do with this box, that is select channels by their RF channel number, for instance 30 will get me 6.1, 36 will get me 7.1. Last year I sat on channel 2 RF and logged KOTA channel 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 from Rapid City, SD, ABC affiliate. KOTA Territory News at 10 was listed in the EPG, together with a later current time.

With channel 3 on RF 24 in Phoenix, and channel 3 on RF 2 in SD, I had 3.1, 3.1, 3.2, 3.2, 3.3. First one would be SD and second one would be Phoenix for each of the pairs of 3.1 and 3.2. Lowest RF channel first.

I should rescan again with no antenna hooked up then go to RF 9 and see what it will get me with the antenna hooked in just for kicks.

My question to the forum, is this an issue with meta data being transmitted by channel 9 about its various feeds, its PSIP settings?

I tried to write to channel 9 tech support but my message limit was hit after some 255 characters in a big otherwise empty text box sized to hold 3 times that much.

I really would like to get my EPG for Antenna TV so I can see when Archie Bunker and The Meathead are on, also McHale's Navy sometime on Friday.

Why would the box get channel 9 wrong, the HDTV get it right?

Folks, I may be in the wrong section of the forum with my question. It concerns Tucson TV, but I am in a Tucson Radio forum. My Google research into this question brought me to this site with a result concerning KGUN-TV posted in the Phoenix TV forum, the closest match available under Television.

If a moderator concurs, I would be amenable to having my post moved to Phoenix TV. Thank you.

Phoenix is my local market, with South Mountain just 27 miles according to Google maps. I use a Channelmaster 2018 antenna, (channels 7-69) about 7 ft above my roof, pointing at Tucson. Only dealing with 4 VHF channels, 8, 9, 10.1 and 12. 10.2 is carried on UHF channel 26, along with 45.1 and 45.2.

Used to be able to see 4, 6 was clobbered by FM, could be heard on the FM radio at 87.75 MHz, 9 was clobbered by 8 and 10, 11 had a faint picture in the snow with no sound, with a translator on 50 providing sound with no picture in the old days. 13 was usually clobbered by 12.

Once I left my Digital Stream tuner box setting on RF channel 2 and got 3.1, ABC, 3.2 and 3.3 out of Rapid City, SD for 20 seconds, leaving a frozen picture of an ABC program. I can't do that with the HDTV set. It doesn't offer ba way to sit on an RF channel.

I remember one day when channel 2 brought NBC out of Houston, NBC News at 3:30 PM, I saw ABC, CBS, PBS and "Buy Canadian" in the old days. Six meters ham band should be popping too at that time.

I remember listening to 96.3 FM from Wickenburg, ninety miles away using the TV antenna, and "Mix 96.5 FM" was in and out from Cedar Rapids Iowa, and I turned on channel 2, and there was Cedar Rapids just booming in. I would also hear 96.1 from Tucson overtake Wickenburg from ninety miles the other way from time to time.

I remember listening to "Real Country" on 96.3 and had Deuling Banjos come playing out of Tucson on what I thought was a rock station on 96.1! It was a better selection at the moment than was playing on the country station.

A couple miles west of me I heard 96.1 Tucson trading places with 96.1 Apache Junction on a friend's car radio. AM 1260 some six miles down the road from me has an FM translator on 96.1.

I got AM 1260, a 50-watt nighttime AM station to play a 1956 cut called "Green Door." They debated over the air, and said they will play it just this once, probably never again. All three people in the studio thought it had an upbeat jingle to it, but now they are a talk format station. Indeed, it probably will be the last time they play the Green Door! (There is a good video of that one somewhere on YouTube, among several videos of it.

I've wandered off the topic here. I am far enough east in east Mesa to be clear of most of the San Tan mountains up here and get a path into Tucson between the San Tans and the Catalinas down there.
