KGUN Tucson to add thecoolTV as Virtual Channel 9.5

...they've already got the subchannel running (repeating Mexicanal from 9.2/9.4) over their primary signal on channel 9; it appears to not be on their Oro Valley translator K16EO/actual channel 16/virtual channels 9.3 and 9.4. It's a music video service apparently already running on Journal's WTMJ-TV/virtual 4 Milwaukee, King Kong's KGNG-LP/virtual 47.3 Las Vegas and Broadband Properties' KAXT-LD San Francisco. Interestingly, another station in Tucson, KOLD-TV/actual 32/virtual 13.3 still displays a message announcing The Tube Music Network's departure from that station, despite the fact that The Tube suspended operations two years ago this month...

Now if KGUN-TV could only get the FCC to expedite their application
to boost the ERP on channel 9 from 10.3 to 14.5 kw, I might have a
chance to get their signal again in the 'Tuke.

I had no problem when KGUN's DT was on channel 35, but when they
moved back to 9 on June 12, zap!...no more 9, which meant no more
Erin with the weather. <sad>

My KGUN signal is almost impossible to get here on my TV in Sahaurita. MY digital rabbit ears worked fine, but now nothing. I get my Erin fix on 58.1 9pm newscasts.....

Hopefully when they ERP up--no airsickness back needed ("after use,
fold toward you")--you'll have better luck. After all, you're in the
Tucson DMA.

As far as my getting Erin...<pause with a wink>...on KWBA 58.1,
not very likely with its stick being where it is.

Does the entire KGUN 10 PM news team double up on 58 at 9?

Your "digital" rabbit ears were probably optimized for UHF. (Actually, there is no such thing as a "digital" or "HDTV" antenna; radio waves are radio waves.) That was fine when KGUN was on its pre-transition channel 35. Post-transition, they moved back to channel 9. I'm surprised they did; none of the other Tucson VHFs moved back. I've noticed the same thing with Phoenix stations in Casa Grande. Pre-transition reception was fine; post-transition lost 8, 10 and 12. I can even get LPTV 44.X on RF 16 better than I can the Phoenix VHFs there.

Just one news reader and Erin and it's pretty informal newscast with both talent talking together at the end of the newscasts.....I'm moving to another part of the ranch soon, so I will see if my signals change for all stations.....

I was in the Tucson area last night with my laptop w/ TV stick, so I dropped down to Sahuarita to see if I could get KGUN. I managed a 70% strength signal in the Fry's parking lot just off of I-19. A little choppy, but everything came through, as long as I had the antenna pointed correctly, and it's my experience that there is little room for error with VHF digital - you have to have it aimed just right. According to TVFool.com, you should get a decent signal (http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=80&q=call=kgun&type=D), but if they're granted their power increase, that should help as well.

After we moved last week I set up the rabbit ears and did a rescan of channels and now get a pretty decent KGUN signals...so what will be on COOLTV??? 9.5??
