KGVY - FM?

In inaugural issue of the KGVY Quarterly (newspaper), it says:
"KGVY is on the AM dial...and adding an FM frequency shortly".

Anybody know anything about the FM?
 
My guess is that it will be an FM translator rather than a full power stick, but that's purely a guess, and I couldn't tell you which translator frequency.
 
Yeah it does not come in very well. When I visited Tucson (3 years in a row) 102.3 was carrying K-Love and had a terrible signal in Tucson. I wonder if they can move it to Tucson.
 
If you look at the sales agreement you will find two noteworthy items:
1) The sale price is $32,000
2) "Seller acknowledges that the buyer will be moving the station from Oro Valley to Green Valley".

There are rules pertaiing to using a translator to extend a station's coverage. Does this mean that KGVY no longer plans to move to Tucson?

102.3 being so close to 102.1, is a frequency switch also in the works?
 
If they move the translator to Tucson and the AM to the south edge of Tucson, the signal strength would still be strong in Green Valley and the AM/FM combo would blanket the city. 8)
 
Does anyone know if this translator is presently on the air?
From Campbell and Ina all I could get was slop from 102.1.

Generally, a translator owned by the originating station cannot be used to extend the range of the station to be relayed.
 
Before the translator can be moved to Green Valley, the sale needs to be approved by the FCC and so must the move. If the translator is on the air, it should be audible from Oro Valley but certainly not from Green Valley. One question is where the translator will be located. Maybe it will use the present KGVY tower.
