KGVY PD Out?

What's going on at KGVY 1080 (and kgvy1080.com)?

Apparently PD/morning guy Andy Taylor is out...not long after PD/morning guy
Jim Bednarek was out...not long after PD/morning guy Tom Lang was out.

What happened to Andy Taylor at KGVY????? Did the management team do the same thing to him as they did to Jim (maybe lead him on to what the PD joib REALLY means there). Too bad, station has potential if they realize it's a Green Valley area station- not a Tucson station. Can't do the oldies because of COOL 1450 sooo maybe stick with local block programming and sell the heck out it. As far as Andy goes, he got screwed again-like too many air personalities over the pass couple of years. Hope he lands on his feet soon- Thoughts?

Well, that's interesting...when I read this I immediately went to the FCC AM Query
and found that KGVY has withdrawn its application--or else it was turned down by
the Feds--for a COL move to Tucson with a slight power boost (but still a daytimer).

Can't do the oldies because of COOL 1450

Please. There is simply NO comparison between the tired, OLD oldies on "Cruel" 1450 and the much more eclectic and expansive KGVY music library.
Cheap Channel's p***-poor excuse for an oldies station is no threat to ANY other station!

Now just wait a minute!!! I disagree with 99 KTKT calling COOL 1450 and ,in so many words, an awful oldies station. I do think COOL is simply a good "rock and roll oldies station that is geared towards the 44 plus demo...and we all know that is the money demo. I am sorry that the signal at 1450 is not a very good one...but the music is on target and they have the oldies jock, Alan Michaels back in mornings, and why do they have some minor league baseball game at night???? wish CC would move it to an FM signal (but which one) got to believe it would be a money maker. But what do I know....just rambling i guess-

Someone 45 was born in 1964/65. They have no desire to hear all of the stuff that Cruel 1450 plays from before they were born. If they're geared to any demo (probably not, since Cheap Channel simply doesn't care), it's more like 60+!
Yes, I definitely DO think they are an AWFUL excuse for an oldies station!

I heard some of the morning show today on KGVY 1080 (and kgvy1080.com).

The guy is using the name "Steve West." While the name sounds synthetically
generated for radio, the voice seems somewhat familiar. Has he been on the air
in Tucson (or Phoenix) before? And is he also the new PD?


As for that train wreck on 1450...they've turned the I-CRAP back on and not
only does the music suck (oh wow! Danny & The Juniors! :) but the frequency
response--marginal as it was with the hash 'n' hiss maker off--is absolutely
atrocious again with it back on.

I've also found out that Jim Bednarek has surfaced with a weekend gig (Sundays
noon-3) on the (not so) Mighty 690 KCEE. Good for Jim!

Steve has said he was recently "Journaled" , and wow I thought my car radio went bad, but I guess the I-Crap is back on Cruel 1450 and I got to tune in Sunday to Jim's show, I keep forgetting to turn on at noon ;D.
