Does anyone have any information on this station? It's probably the most bizzare one i've seen -- odd coverage area, looks like no real antenna either, on someone's house. Just a little project?

Would that not be expensive? And if anyone has heard it, what material does it play?

Sorry for the odd question, just can't find anything here or on google about it.

The station is owned by "Galaxy Cat" and is at 99.3 in Muir Beach, just north of SF. Potentially could be heard in SF.

I remember reading an article about what I thought was this station, but no - it's another one...

Expensive? Depends on your point of view. Definitely more than a typical month's rent, but less than a new automobile.

They did not do their research when they filed for the original CP. Many LPFM stations are useless with no real coverage are. Just because it clear on a program does not mean that the channel is actually clean. I tell people to drive around the area first.
 
Galaxy Cat has a CP for a new NCE in Livermore. They will have to divest the LPFM before commencing operations of the NCE.

I wonder if that site has electrical service. Remember the original KTRB move-in sites!

Looks like it's the KKIQ site - already in operation. Interestingly enough, looks like the 90.3 religious translator is gone from there. I remember seeing that up there many moons ago when I installed a subcarrier at that site.

I've talked to Mr. Cotton that runs the Marshall station and others in places like Gerlach, Nevada and a pair (maybe one now) in Cedar City. They all run basically the same music. I gathered he was able to cover all the expenses himself. I read somewhere his company has another station, I think in Oregon. The LPFM operators, I don't know but looking at their FCC data it appears they have been frequent with requesting STAs.
 
The difference is that the Marshall NCE station has a site but the LPFM does not.
KGXY-LP has been silent for about three years. It has a lot of STAs including many CP modifications that were denied by the FCC.

If I recall correctly, this LPFM was applied for by the organization that puts on the How Weird Street Fair in SF. Because they couldn't get permission to build it in the location their application was for, they had to move it. As I recall, it's "temporarily" running at a bay area FM engineer's home in the hills to keep the license active while they "explored" other possibilities.

I recall they originally hoped to put it in the Marin headlands so it would hit SF"s Marina district, but that fell through.

The How Weird Street Fair used to make a lot of money from their fair that was interrupted for a couple years by COVID, leaving them hanging with a lot of other issues (we used to do live webcasts from HWSF so I talked to the organizers a bit about this years ago).

Ah interesting - is it just dead air then if I were to head over to its listening range?
