Just what Guymon needs....
I remember when an application was filed to the FCC to move 1210 into OKC with 50kw signal years ago. I believe Clear Channel was going to take that frequency and sell 1340 off to First Choice Broadcasting who owns Gospel KTLV-1220, and they would shut 1220 down once that move happened.boiseengineer said:

Steckline could take the money that they are going to spend in engineering, the purchase and installation of a new 50kw AM transmitter, and other stuff and purchase the CP for the 100kw station at 99.5 from that church in Amarillo. And increase the value of their radio property there in Guymon tenfold.
I am as nostalgic about AM as anyone, but from a business perspective, it just doesn't make sense to sink the money into it for "technical upgrades" when there doesn't seem to be a clear path to better fidelity and more relevance with the younger generation of consumers. If the new FCC commissioner finds a way to save it, that's a different story. But in June of 2013, I'd look for every opportunity to invest in internet and FM translators if I'm owning an AM.

There's one thing, however, about the FM on 99.5 (KBIJ). A sale was announced at the end of May to a group from Perryton for somewhat less than a half million. That, coupled with a change in the license back to commercial, is awaiting approval.

Hopefully LS gets someone to take care of his business better when he goes for the upgrade. With the fcc's latest round of fines it seems he needs to take care of the crap he already has before bothering to go with a messy 50kw directional in the Oklahoma no-mans-land panhandle.
Maybe the relaxation of the FCC's city of license change rules comes into play here. No longer necessary to wait for a major change window. By getting a CP for 50 KW, they stake out their turf. They can then file to amend without fear of getting thrown into an auction, because the station is MX to itself.
I'd bet that farm advertising on a blowtorch daytime signal still has a chance to make some money.
