KHCB Buys a Translator

Obviously this is for additional coverage for KHCB's Spanish service. The highly directional 91.5 signal doesn't cover very much; perhaps it might get moved to the NW a bit while still maintaining separation from KHVU and KPVU?

This is surprising. But I will say well done to both parties.

Is this really a donation? Or was it a donated swap? Where KHCB will return the favor and donate one of theirs??

If you think that Centro would ever donate something you are not familiar with them at all.. He can't sell (on paper) because he still owes the wife some mula but I would expect this move to have another move soon

Question is 101.5 tied to 1400am for life?
It was originally an HCB translator in Brenham. I believe they are free to do what they want with it, whether it be to rebroadcast 1400, 105.7, or even outright sell it. Unless there is a plan to upgrade 91.5, 101.5 is not likely to be changed after the acquisition.

HCB might keep a sharp eye on the Estrella Media eastern rimshot sticks. If Estrella gets out of the radio business one of those might be a good new home for HCB’s Spanish language service. They could sell the 101.5 translator and perhaps turn in the license for 1400.

KROI would have been perfect for the HCB Spanish language service.

With station values plummeting, I could see all the eastern rimshots eventually in the hands of religious broadcasters.

I just want to say it seems like the 101.5 translator isn’t protecting KHSX-LP. They were off the air last time I checked and the translator was fairly strong going up 610 by the KHSX tower and up to I-10
