KHFD-LD is on the air

Another Christian station. At least this one's in English.

Actually, I think they've been on the air for some time. But they're on channel 51 and until KFWD moved on June 12, they were forced to aim their signal into a no-man's land south of Greenville. Now they're broadcasting down the Interstate 30 corridor from Royse City into Rockwall and south Garland.

I have to wonder how many folks actually receive this station. If you're close enough to Royse City to pick them up, you're too far from Cedar Hill to get by with an omnidirectional antenna, and within KHFD's coverage area, Cedar Hill is always about 180 degrees away from Royse City. I only confirmed its existence by hooking up a silver sensor and waving it around my bedroom until I got a lock on the station.

Not a hint of it here in Frisco (as expected). FWIW, I get all of the low-power digitals from Cedar Hill and KPFW from downtown Dallas -- even KHPK/3 on occasion.

The KHFD directional pattern is similar to KFXR/1190. Not that it would make much difference, but is RF-51 using the 5 kw or 15 kw facility?

I think they're still at 5 kW, but I could be wrong. Of course, AM radio can do quite a bit more with 5 kW than TV, and most AM radios have either omnidirectional whips or bidirectional loopstick antennas. So despite similar radiation patterns, most folks will find KFXR a lot easier to receive!

The FCC doesn't have the 15 kW coverage maps up, but looking at tvfool.com, it doesn't look like the 15 kW upgrade will improve coverage much. Frisco is definitely "deep fringe" for this station.
