KHIT 107 Lives....

That issue came up a couple weeks ago when we were sharing Jerry Kay stories. He had commented during a contest when he was on K-HIT ... a woman mentioned during a call that she had table getting K-HIT where she lived, causing Jerry to retort "Lady..I'll give you TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for that radio...."!!

A table that gets KHIT...I'D WANT IT TOO!!

No matter what anyone thinks, we all should have a soft spot for KHIT. By it's sheer ambition and Spinal Tap-ishness of this station, it deserves more than just a casual footnote in Northwest radio history.

I wish somebody would write a book about KHIT. I KNOW it would make an AWESOME comedy movie someday.....

By the way, they're not the only tribute station to a classic Seattle station. Even KJET has one...actually TWO.

Reception problems? Gee, what is that?

We used to host various game show type appearances at the Double Tree Lounge at Southcenter. I could never tell the audience to listen to KHIT on the way home, because you Couldn't Pick Us Up There!

And don't ask me about the looooooong extention cord laid across a field in Bremerton and the STL link.

It really was a modern WKRP.

I was a serious KHIT listener in the mid-'80s (yes, I remember hearing you too Peter)...and wherever I went in Puget Sound from Olympia to Bellingham, I NEVER had reception problems with KHIT when their tower was on Gold Mountain. In Downtown Seattle, Southcenter, Bellevue, Tacoma, Downtown Everett, Bellingham, Vancouver, BC. everywhere, the signal was rock solid. The stereo light on my '75 Dasher's FM radio RARELY blinked on KHIT whereas everything on Cougar, Capitol Hill and Queen Anne would be awash in multipath fuzz and static anywhere outside the Seattle city limits......

When they moved their xmitter to Capitol Hill, that was when the KHIT signal went to hell.....

No station with Stephen Rabow could be all bad.

I used to hear KHIT occasionally in Eugene OR before it moved off Gold Mountain.

There were some female jocks at KHIT I remember. Maureen Matthews (who later became the first KNUA PD), Crystal Collins and Carolyn Tappan (who was the sidekick and newsperson for Howard Hoffman in 1987....)

Mr. Rabow! Is that really you? Or has someone appropriated your good name?
Last time I heard about you was that you were headed to F-L-A to be a creative director (?) of some fabulous night clubs. Is this what really occurred?

As for me, bouncing back and forth between Seattle and Denver doing that radio on-air thang. Currently in the Mile High City doing mornings for Jones Radio Networks, delivering witty patter to small American cities from coast to coast.
