Ron Jacobs, the great program director and architect of KHJ from 1965 to 1970, sent the following out to his friends, fans and followers. It wasn't meant for widespread publication, but I simply cannot resist:
From Kaneohe ...
My computer is a distraught as I. It just sent out two versions of the same song ... by the Hopeful Gospel Quartet
The Terry, who sent it to me, the tune was our Fight Song over the past six months.
To Frank Terry, of anyone I ever met, Life WAS A Ball Game.
Way back 42 years ago Terry taught me that it was cool for a Jew to dig Jesus. Gospel and jazz, that's what we listened to when not at work playing Pay The Rent Music. Don't know if you received the song, but it was playing in my car on a rare trip to town Wednesday night.
At the time, I found out yesterday morning, when Frank Terry made the classiest, most dignified, ironic and courageous Exit of anyone I know.
He was also as loving as any parent I've known.
He left us caring most about the people worrying about him.
