I've heard many many airchecks over the years of the great jocks from the midwest and east coast, but when it was at its peak, Boss Radio was THE energizing Top 40 sound, especially as the California sounds of the Beach Boys, Doors, Byrds, Mamas & Papas, etc. began to replace the earlier east coast do-wop groups: California rock, Detroit soul and the Brits really came together on the "Drake stations" (and don't for get to include KGB in that).
I just mentioned in another thread that I can still hear the legacy of Boss Radio on KRTH (and of course they still have Shotgun Tom, who was a Boss Jock in the 60's at KGB).
I was at KHJ in 79-80 and it was a sad remnant of its former self, with the exception of Bobby Ocean.
