KHOU News in HD

As I was watching CBS Sports on Saturday, KHOU rolled out a quick promo... they are going to start showing their newscast in HD starting on Superbowl Sunday.

I am happy and a bit shocked. Happy that I get to watch the news in HD but shocked that KHOU would be first to roll out in HD, instead of Belo 8. Am I wrong on this?

I do know KTRK has their first station to involve HD in their newscast and ABC is rolling out HD in their owned-and-operated stations. I wonder if KHOU rushed through this to be first.

I wouldn't assume that KHOU will go HD before WFAA. WFAA just opened a new studio with all HD gear in it. They just haven't shown it in HD yet. I suspect they're finishing work on their master control so they can make that happen. However, that means it could be days or weeks before they go HD. If it's only days, it'll be before KHOU.

Seeing that KHOU is putting together a better product than WFAA is as of late, I expect KHOU to get that honor :)
 
KHOU debut their news in HD today. They even had its live shots on HD.

Despite some technical glitches, it was pretty cool to see the news in HD.
