KHOU Pulling up Anchor

They might buy a station (to create a duopoly) just for their studio building. KIAH is a likely acquisition target, especially with the unused space and the location near the Southwest Freeway on both Westpark and Hillcroft. The looming Tribune merger also may be a factor.

Another scenario is to offload the station, preferably to CBS (someone with deeper pockets), to get rid of the problem at the company. They may come back to the market someday to fill in the hole in the company's statewide coverage, perhaps buying an existing independent/flipping a ethnic station and running it as an English-language independent station.
