KHRS-HD

Noticed today that KFNC decided to turn on their HD signal, but to a surprise, the call letters were displayed as KHRS-FM. Anyone else caught this? I Wonder what the hell where they smoking at the time they fired up IBOC.

I just noticed this myself about 10 minutes ago... weird.

Knowing Cumulus, it's just a technical glitch. I seriously doubt they are doing anything spectacular with 97.5. Besides, how would KHRS be any better of a fit for the ESPN affiliate than KFNC?

Purple Devel is right, however.... Once again, here is an example that all syndicated (I know, some of it is not) radio just doesn't have local legs. For the money, they could flip ESPN and go after KHMX and "throw it in" with their KRBE buys and make (and keep) some real money. Hot is making some ground in ratings and with the shape of down revenues.... I'd be doing everything I could to keep the money inthe cluster. What do I know?

T.L. - "real money?" I believe KRBE (locally) was in the top 3 in revenue in May. I don't think KRBE is losing share or ratings to HOT (it's still way too early to see any real impact). They both are programmed for different demos although both are considered CHR formats. While one is programmed for the younger end (18-34) the other is programmed for a slightly older demo (25-44). While KFNC is not everyone's cup of tea it's definitely different from the local talking heads we traditionally hear. It has a nice blend of national and local shows. We have to remember that not everyone (at least half) in Houston is from Houston and want to hear 5 straight days of why the Texans didn't draft VY, why the Astros are losing or why TMac can't get out of the first round of the playoffs. I'm a sports fan and I listen to Mike & Mike, Colin Cowherd and Tirico & Van Pelt and choose something different in the PM (although I do like Calvin Murphy's show). I think the real problem with the cluster are the signal challenges both KFNC and KHJK have. Just one man's opinion.

KHRS are the default call letters in a Harris HD exporter.

It has been months since going HD, and KTSU is still doing this.
They have the wrong info in their identifier.
