KHTS 1220 Santa Clarita CA In Alaska!

This one even surprised me

Ac/oldies heard on 1220 in McGrath, Alaska at 1054pm Sat Aug 29 turns out to be KHTS Canyon Country/Santa Clarita, CA with a liner between songs simply saying “Your Hometown Station”

Good catch. Living in Burbank and Toluca Lake for years, I never could get that one. The signal is very limited locally.

Yes. When I was living in Tujunga (up until 1971) and when I went back for Christmas visits at my grandmother's house in the same town (through 1978), the only thing I ever heard on 1220 was the station licensed to Pomona. The 1220 in Santa Clarita on that frequency had to be highly directional to protect both the Pomona station and Palo Alto's KDOW-AM.

Anyway, I very much agree with
@davideduardo. That was a very good catch!

The Santa Clarita 1220 didn't come on the air until 1989 according to the FCC: https://enterpriseefiling.fcc.gov/dataentry/public/tv/publicFacilityDetails.html?facilityId=58521

Once I get the audio off my digital recorder, I will post it here.

I've probably heard KHTS for some time now (after KDOW drops to night power, obviously) and never known it.

But last night I happened to hear the ID between songs, and looking up "the hometown station 1220 am" led me to KHTS.

I'm sure everyone knows this already, but it's new to me: KHTS stands for K-Home-Town-Station.
