KHYI: Nadine Bodett takes mornings, where's Bruce?

Yesterday, the rumors started flying on Bruce Kidder's www.hardcountryradio.com email list that Kidder, morning DJ and PD of KHYI 95.3, was no longer on the air. Coming just a couple of weeks from April Fool's Day, when the station typically dupes listeners into thinking they've switched to Disco or Polka, it was hard to take the news with anything more than a grain of salt. But this is just in from one of the folks on my KHYI-Fans Yahoo! Groups email list:

A quick Google News search turns up only the above article.

Now, I've never known the station's owners to be particularly loose with the pursestrings, but surely they're paying Nadine more than minimum wage. Have they let Bruce go entirely? Or are they doing Bruce a favor by taking him off the air so that he can focus on his duties as Program Director? And even if that's the case, why didn't long-time KHYI'er Brett Dillon (middays, and "Music Director" IIRC) get the morning slot?

My personal thoughts: the team of Nadine and Natalie is enough to make me change the dial from KERA in the mornings (sorry, Abby!). The question is whether they've got the moxie to keep the station's hardcore fans, who have become accustomed to Bruce's abrasive but knowledgable persona.

Edit: This just in from Bruce's list:

Oh, man. A boat! Surely Bruce reads KRUD.com, in particular cartoon #168. Link here, if it's allowable: http://www.krud.com/toon168.html
Edited by RobertB on 03/23/06 05:25 PM.

Actually,it's a smart move .Nadine is talented and will bring some credibility to the station. The morning show will kinda be a first of sorts with an all female team. The resident "female basher" poster no doubt will have a say about this, and suggest it is a dumb move or a step down for Nadine. He used to work with her. They didn't get along.

Bruce may be on 1190 when they start having jocks, he'll be a good fit along with Dan Foster who use to work at the station!

From the FW Star Telegram:

Popular radio personality Nadine Bodett has found a new home: Plano-based Americana station KHYI/95.3 FM "The Range." Bodett, who has been heard locally on Fort Worth's KFWR/95.9 FM "The Ranch" and Arlington-based KSCS/96.3 FM, took over the Range's 6-9 a.m. slot Wednesday. She'll team with Range personality Natalie, who just goes by Natalie. Although the Range, one of the most inventive stations in the area, is based in Plano, it can be heard in parts of Tarrant County.
