KICKS 104 and RICK AND BUBBA

Why so much negative talk about Rick and Bubba?

Admittedly, they are not for everyone. But isnt that the point of a free market and freedom of choice?

Obviously people do indeed take pleasure in their broadcast. How else can you explain the 30 plus stations that carry the show?

I realise that R and B are successful only in the Southeast and primarily in Alabama, but is one morning show enough to write off every other day part on what is easily one of the most listenable stations in the Mobile market?

I am from the Gulf Coast and enjoy a "local" feel. But even my lack of enthusiasm for Dan and Shelby wouldnt keep me from enjoying KSJ for the music. The fact is, they just dont have the variety that Im looking for. And I have heard a thousand vomity Bill Blacks to have had my fill.

Many will leave, more will come, and Kicks 104 is doing an incredible job of keeping things fresh.

Even in the face of naysayers afraid of change.

R and B have a multi year contract which precludes any flip on the horizon, so hope for your jazz fix somewhere else like public radio where ratings arent worth the paper they are printed on.

IP trace anyone? My guess--2800 Dauphin Street in Mobile. ;)

What happened to caddliac jack? Wasn't he a local morning show?
The only thing I said that this area has too many country stations.

I gave the lowdown here.

When the switch was made, their website was pimping his programme.
I remember hearing Jack before on 102.1 or was it 96.1

102.1 is a 50K station out of Destin.

i can listen to the boys in small doses. sometimes its nice to have a little break from music. there is one thing i heard on their show i did'nt care for much. that was a guest they had in the studio with them. a preacher who had written a book. i think they spent way too much time on the religious topics. if i want that i'll listen to the gospel station. on the other hand crossin dixon was really good. i also enjoyed that comedian from last comic standing...........very entertaining. theres my two cents worth.

The tone of your post suggest that you have inside knowledge from behind the scenes at Cumulus Mobile.
This quote implies that Cumulus already has a "Plan B" to put in place when Kicks' ratings drop.
At this point, is it even possible to find a format that will work on 104.1?
Has Cumulus ever kept a format on 104.1 long enough to make money with that 100kw signal?
Heck, they don't even bother to change the call letters when they debut a new format, they put the WYOK calls on it when they acquired it from Clear Channel many many years ago.
What is/was/will be Cumulus' master plan for 104.1?
Do the people in control in Mobile (or Atlanta) even know they own that station?
