Kicks Morning Show Bashes Country Artists

There's an email floating around Nashville that says, "Caddy and Dallas on Kicks were talking about the best and worst interviews they've ever done. They said Pat Green was drunk when they interviewed him and Dallas said Brad Paisley was the rudest and worst interview she has ever had, and that it was horrible."

It just surprised me that Kicks is trying to ruin what little record label relationships they have left. Most of the labels here on music row already can't stand Mark and Mike and their tactics.

Come On Lance, you and can't compete in the major market Hunnicutt just like to post don't you

Have you gotten so desparate that you make up lies in emails, sounds like politics, everyone listens to KICKS for country news and music, they have for years in this town, good that you listen, might learn something,

KICKS plays the hits, sure that upsets record guys who try to get stiffs on, that's why they have you play the stiffs, that is when you can get permission

KICKS continues to roll no matter how hard you try

No one is riding the Bull, old news dude, [EDIT-inflammatory]

I ride the Bull, and they play the hits too, so I guess that makes me a nobody.
BTW, I think Kristen Gates has made the morning show a heck of a lot better. While I liked Jamie Massey, Kristen brings the level of professionalism up a couple of notches. I think they need to start promoting her a bit more on billboards and ads. Just this nobody's opinion :)

The way i see it... these days the only people listening to radio is radio people. And while were talking music...the music RADIO plays is picked by a group of pd's/consultants then all the rest follow. Not my cup of tea. Same old 200 songs over and over again. Give me internet or XM ANYYDAY!

I am typically a chronic button pusher when it comes to my drive in to work, I flip so often that PPM would hate me! However, I was actually listening to Kicks when they said this and I thought it was kind of odd that they would use names of artists that they just did concerts with.

It was actually a funny bit. A caller asked them to name their favorite artists to interview. Cadillac mentioned several like Sugarland and Taylor Swift. The Pat Green interview was actually on his best list.

Dallas said she wanted to announce her worst interview and Caddy suggested they keep it positive and Dallas said, "I am POSITIVE that Brad Paisley was my worst interview."

BTW: Clay Hunnicutt wrote and sent the e-mail after hearing the bit on the air with Caddy and Dallas. I have seen it.

At least Clay listens to the better show in town.

Interesting in that RKO was guilty of the things you state as what is wrong - yet you claim to be a KHJ DJ and a RKO Programmer.

Too funny.

The fact that you think that the only people listening to radio these days are radio people while you applaud XM (btw, its SiriusXM now) and the internet (you could have found out about XM becoming SiriusXM on that internet) to which far fewer americans have access to than listen to the radio weekly, it just shows how wrong and slanted you are.
I guess you just enjoyed working for people like Michael Spears and Paul Drew.

On the other hand, it is comical how poorly Clay, the head of Clear Channel's Country Programming, is doing hands on in Atlanta - although, Clear Channel has never done well in Atlanta no matter who was in charge. Perhaps they just need to sell the entire cluster and find a market that isn't jinxed for them.

Well said Randy...The Sirius / XM subscribers total what, less that 2% of America? Yep, they're really killing us radio folks.

Clear Channel is beyond embarrassing in this market, and they are killing the terrestrial side.

Oh Randy please. Many of us at RKO and others think you're a BOOB. Put a sock in it. Nobody listens to you anymore. ::)

I programmed in a completely different radio world (60's.) Yes i had tight playlists, etc but i didn't have Sirrius/XM, Ipods, Cable, Internet, etc to compete with.

I would probably program my station music somewhat differently. Certaintly not as stringent as in the 60s.

Hey Widow.....
How's thangs up on the rock star farm?? I wish I was a drivin' a tractor some days.....
Hard to believe he only had a .7. Is that 12+? I know many of you guys who know Caddy say he's a great guy and I understand why you'r pullin' for him......and he did a great job afternoons.....but he just doesn't have it for mornings(IMHO)
But once again......PPM is gonna prove me right ....or wrong.(I'm usually wrong.)

Life on the farm is great and the tractor has a radio and I am hoping to get a people meter soon. I am now at a point now where I don't cringe when the phone rings and I don't miss FM radio engineering at all. I have one AM station that keeps me as busy as I want to be and I can't wait to turn up their power soon.

From my new prespective Kicks sounds great and I enjoy listening to it. Caddy may not be your favorite but he is a good friend and a great person as are the rest and the rest of the folks at 210 Interstate North. They put 100% into the stations and they are always trying to make the next day better than the last. The PPM should reflect this hard work.

I constantly watch Citadel stock and wonder how much longer I will own any. I did read lately they may do a reverse split and take back sahres to increase the value this could not hurt and will help keep them listed on the exchange.

T Party - 0.3 for September. 0.7 for the summer book (both numbers from the 25-54 demo).

Cadillac and Dallas were down too - not below the 1.0 watermark though. In the mid 3's.

PPM will wash is all out.

This is really hard to believe. So if Kicks is down too, where is everyone going???
What's the problem with the T. Party? As stated b4, I think Kristen has made the show better, so why doesn't that show up in the ratings? Is it that they're not promoting the show enough, or not letting fans of Kristen's when she was at Kicks that she can now be heard on the Bull? It has me scratching my head, what the....?

you wish you could have the relationship of KICKS in Nashville. They play the music, take risks, and while they dont play it ALL, they actually listen to music and make judgements. As opposed to other models where group decisions render music directors less effective, they are a welcome partner to Nashville musically. I will bet they get first choice over the BULL in most label initiatives.

All the fans want is for the jocks to call like they see them. If an "artist" is a dick. Then call it out. We would prefer to know the truth.
