KICKS weekends........

They seem to be doing some re arranging with weekend talent........ I didnt hear Kevin Steele in a few Saturdays from 6am-11am.......that he had been working for a couple of years now....but instead a guy name John McFadden.......then I understand that Kim Fitz last day today. Its a shame, I thought she was a wonderful addition. I continually ask myself now, why do they hire all these new traffic gurus on KICKS and ALLNEWS106.7, but not keep the one whose been doing it for months.....even don't hear much of Rob Lee anymore! The radio business can be an interesting thing sometimes!

I can't understand why they didn't put Kim Fitz on in middays instead of the small-market-sounding Sari Rose. I believe Kevin Steele is working for them in promotions.

What distinguishes a small market jock from a large market jock? Besides tempo and tone. I think opportunities and connections will get you far. Sari sounds great and has been with Kicks for years.

You missed it on this one, Roddy. Sari is as good as any other female in this market IMO.
We have so very few radio folks who really sound "big time." And some of the ones who are touted as "big time" are really not that talented if you get to know them.

I guess we all have our own taste. Yours obviously differs from mine.

Once radio companies start realizing that they actually own radio stations in big markets again, what does it matter. The stations have dumbed themselves down in every other department why should on-air matter either. Most people rather hear a decent real live jock with a mid market delivery than a voice track that has nothing personal with no interaction to offer. At least if there is an emergency or problem somewhere, she can report it and talk to her listeners.

Sari sounds has always sounded fine for Kicks and probably fits the new pay standards working for Cumulus, but probably not by choice. At the end of the day, it's a country music format anyways. Nashville is far from being a major market and I am sure they do fine.

It seems like most female voices you hear on air today are "junior soccer mom" voices. And most male jocks don't have "pipes" anymore - especially on CHRs.
Back in another lifetime, I remember there was a real difference between "big" market radio and "small" market radio. The guys/gals in major markets, for the most part, had deep, resonant voices.....in the small markets you would hear lot's of southern accents mixed with speech impediments......it was not uncommon to hear a hair-lipped news director or midday guy when listening to the radio while traveling through South Georgia.
Today.....you can't tell if you're in New Yawk City or Ty Ty, Georgia by listening to the radio.

Yes Sari is a good dj.......good friend of mine who again I saw start from the bottom and with alot of perserverance has made it to a mid day role now for years. I hate to see Kim leave, but she has a new opportunity and Im sure she will do great at what she does. Kim will be missed

I do feel, however, and here again just my opinion, that Cadillac Jack, Dallas McCade and Mike Macho are all of top-notch, major market quality.
