Kid and Ruben to start 08/06

Posted today on allaccess.com that Kid and Ruben will start on monday. Let the fun begin!!! Wonder who KZON is eyeing for pm drive.

Heard the Bush promos running all day.......Wonder who they have in mind for the rest of the dayparts. I'd think it would be locals - what with school starting as we speak. Might get hard trucking a PM driver or Night person in from another market if they have Families. But then again - alot of people in this business are divorced, so maybe they wont have a hard time!

I'm not a fan of them, it's not that I don't like them, just didn't listen to them ever, so I have no opinion of Kid and Ruben. But I do like the hype and promotion of them that Jamz is doing right now. Something different and it builds hype. Will it be enough, time will tell.

Jamz is now running a promo taking shots at Johnjay & Rich on KZZP (Kiss). Hilarious...I love that they refer to Johnjay as simply "JJ", the part about being the right caller "between 1 and 1047" and the "Keep It Simple Stupid" at the end.

What ever happened to the days of "talent" actually winning over viewers rather than having to take pot shots at others (to make one look good)?

I tuned out after 6:15 a.m. (no radio at work), so I didn't get to hear if Kid and Ruben were actually on the radio or not.

Nice promos, btw. I'm not a fan of Hip-Hop per se, but I do enjoy a good war. ;D

Also, I like the approach that Kid and Ruben are taking: local show that cares about the community. This is what makes Dave Pratt and Tim and Willy good hosts and good moring shows. They get the community involved in local issues, while entertaining their audience. Nice touch, really.

Good luck, Kid and Ruben. I probably won't be a regular listener, but I will stop by ocasionally to see what up! :D

I'm not a fan of hip hop, but did listen to Kid and Ruben in the past, and liked Kid on KTAR too. Anyone else think the "war" promos in the first hour today were in poor taste? It just seemed to me with all of the issues we have overseas, a radio "war" wasn't the right way to go.
I also don't like the pot shots - JJ&R didn't push Kid and Ruben out, CC did that. They're not horrible, although they aren't as entertaining (to me) as K&R.
I've been doing the audiobooks on CD route for the past 6-8 months, courtesy of my local library - much more entertaining than what I've been listening to on the air!

...and ends 8/06/08!

Yawn! Who cares. Same old, same old. What are they going to do different? Play different hip hop songs?!

Don't forget about this duo's bad judgement a few years back: Playing a parody of Katrinia victims, then CC suits duly canning their ass from KISS. (Don't believe Russ Hill's blogs saying this ain't necessarily so: Everyone @ CC knows the truth).
Also, Kidd Stevens said on 92.3's "The Newsroom" hour that the US military should blow up Iraq and start over (deep down, sounded like he really meant this!).

Kidd made a BIIIIIIIIG mistake by leaving 92.3. He opted for making more money than cultivating a budding talk show host career (albeit his voice is too annoyingly high-pitched, it can be corrected by going to a speech therapist. But do you really think he will?). Plus, this guy needs to grow up: He's in his mid-thirties, married w/kids and he opts to be a hip hop DJ over a talk radio career? Which has more longevity?

Is it any wonder 92.3 never gave him a contract? That's why he was able to jump ship so quick: He had no non-compete.

You watch: Kidd'll come back to 92.3 in a couple of years with his tail between his legs begging to be taken' back. If Russ Hill is still around, he'll take him in from the cold and feed him something .. no questions asked. You can see the headline: "Kidd Jamz 92.3 to get on the Hill again!"

Bitter, party of one!

I don't remember a parody song. Are you sure that's accurate? I remember Kid saying something to the effect that the Katrina victims have nobody to blame but themselves for not evacuating when told to do so. I won't judge whether that was the right thing to say or not, but there is a difference between an unscripted comment during a discussion, and a pre-produced piece making fun of others' tragedy.

Sounds like this bug has been stepped on by Kid one too many times. :D

Blah Blah Blah. 4 hours of their so-called friends calling in saying how much they missed them. And then they go do a charity carwash for the cop that died and the helicopter crews. BORING! These guys got no heat. Power stuck it to them and had a concert by SUPERSTAR Baby Bash right in there parking lot. Now that's a @#%$slap! They should go back to talk radio cuz there ain't no room in hip hop for an old white dude and a wannabe mexican.

I gotta admit, the whole "call us up and tell us how much you missed us and how great we are" thing got old real quick.

And a charity car wash? Is that the best they can do? Anybody who's worked a weekend shift in this town can tell you about the "hey, we're like, having a car wash for my cousin who, like, died" phone calls. I'm sorry, but if the best idea that you can come up with is one that every cheerleading squad and marching band that wants to go to "nationals" thought up, then you've got problems.

More morning zoo schlock. check their bio on the website. there is an awful lot of spin there covering up how many gigs they lost locally.
