Hi kids. For those involved with past threads that annoyed the livin' cr*p outta us, this may just amuse ya. Got it from this very site, Radio-info (happy mods?), on the home page. Although I'm not one to celebrate someone in our biz getting blown out, I thought this might be fun to toss around.
The parody "Schwoogies" initially aired on the Kidd Chris morning show on March 21, and again on March 24 according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, and was sung by a guest named Lady Gash. CBS spokeswoman Karen Mateo confirmed the news to Radio-Info, and the official CBS statement in the Inquirer said: "We found the song to be highly offensive and completely inappropriate for broadcast on our airwaves. When senior management of the station learned that it had been played, they took immediate steps to prevent it from ever appearing on the station again." She added that "At the same time, we launched an extensive internal investigation into the situation including a thorough review of the editorial controls and systems we have in place to prevent this type of content from airing. We instituted additional educational training for the station, and have taken appropriate disciplinary action, including termination of the individuals involved." The paper also noted "Mateo declined to comment on whether Kidd Chris would be paid out the life of his contract, which was to last another three years." Kidd Chris started in mornings on CBS rocker WYSP in late November, after syndicated morning duo Opie & Anthony were dropped. Chris returned to WYSP a few months earlier to handle afternoons, when the station flipped back to Rock from Talk in September.
Put on a pot of coffee, call your dogs and your daughter, n discuss.
