Kiss - FM Evansville added Kidd Kraddick in the Morning today ...

Great show, but, do they even stand a chance against Booker and Sarah?
 
Kidd is an amazing show and will do extremely well in Evansville. It may not surpass Booker and Sarah, but it could cause cume erosion

I don't see Kidd even putting a dent into Hot's morning show.

Now, it should be noted that the last time Kiss beat STO over all and in mornings was during the Clear Channel days when they broadcast the Rick Dees syndicated show. Most of that success is credited to Clear Channel's on air bashing of STO(listeners seemed to like that for some reason) and their playlist was mainstream CHR while Brill had STO programmed as a very white Hot AC.

It's a different ball game today. Booker and Sarah have emerged as a very good LIVE AND LOCAL morning show. I don't care how good Kraddick's show is. Why listen to someone in Dallas when you can listen to a couple of people you can see out and about in Evansville? Do the math.
 
Mr1derful. I respect your analysis on Kidd Kraddick in the morning.

However, I have to disagree with you on that listeners only like local morning shows. I know for a fact (after mining research studies, listener development charts, etc.) most listeners could care less if your morning show is in Evansville or ElPaso. What the listeners want is content, content, content.

Can you create emotion? Can you develop a relationship? If so..thats what makes you a winning morning show.

Kidd has won numberous Marconi's, NAB awards, etc. He wont overthrow Booker..but he will cause cume erosion.
 
Kidd has beaten several "live and local" morning shows in several markets. I hate to be the one to say but live and local means squat. The show can come from Russia and if it's better it will win. Besides, listeners usually don't know the difference.
 
..Erosion, yes... But can Kidd do live stuff in the streets of E'ville-O'boro-H'son??? By the history of a market, you can see what happens.. 'KDQ-WIKY-'STO-Wolf live in the streets... Good choice for sydicated and it can do well here, but I think the 'icing' is on the side of 'STO for this... Kiss beat STO in it's waining Brill days when they refused to 'give up the ghost of successful past'....Kiss beat their lower demos like Tonya Harding's passe' beat up Nancy's ankles....But, with that success came agency rejection.. They did not like the urban leaning of that era of Kiss and they traded shares for 'add-on' buys from the agencies that rule this market (in this era).... 'DKS has always had its ups and downs.. 'STO still will dominate CUME in the old DMA/ADI.... They can sell that CUME, alone... That's the big advantage of 100,000 watts at 1,000 feet over 6,000 watts at 326 feet.... Just an observation...
 
Ive said before the Kidd wont overthrow HOT. However, they will cause Cume Erosion. I can tell you this. After looking at all the markets that Kidd is located in, he is in the top 5 for morning drive, unless the station completely sucks. In that case, he is the glue holding the station on the wall of Arbitron.

Booker and Sarah can hit the streets...and that is awesome! However not every station has that luxury. DKS did the right thing by bringing in an award winning, content driven, cume hungry, ratings powered morning show.

Thats the most important thing!
 
Yes... I think with their budget and how they fit into Regent's local cluster, they picked well.. Dee's did well for Clear Channel when he was on here, in that era.. I was in the building as the backup news, sports guy at the juncture...
