Well to tell you the truth Kidd, word at the Melrose diner is, if your station does not pull at least a 3.0 by the Spring, the format and current employees are toast. CBS will give the Eagles season boost, music tweak and the horrible jock lineup until then to get it right, if not, look for music to return full time. What type of music is undisclosed at this stage of the game. GO T.O.

Suprising that CBS would do that...YSP hasn't had a 'jock' or 'format' put them anywhere on the radio map...and KC didn't take long to take over...so I'm guessing between O&A and Kidd....CBS would be more 'grateful'

So then why does he have the ratings he does and why did it take him less than a year...you think it was a lucky book...or just a bunch of [EDIT] trends??? You know that YSP isn't spending crazy money on marketing...this is grass roots and word of mouth marketing by the listeners...you know KC has the most loyal listeners on terrestrial radio...and you know his TSL is gonna go through the roof. Don't be mad cause your station(s) aren't creative...maybe change it up to caller number 11 instead of 10 and that might work?!

It's not so much an issue of how long he can stay at #1, but how long will the area continue to ignore men 18-34? I mean, if you're a 23 year old white guy in this area, what are you supposed to listen to besides WYS-, er, 94 1 Free F-, um, Free FM 94 WYSP, or whatever it's called this week? It's easy to be #1 when you don't have 3 or 4 other stations shooting for the same demo. (and I'm NOT saying being #1 in a major market isn't a huge accomplishment, NOR am I bashing WYS-, ahh, Free 94 FM 1, in any way, NOR am I bashing his show).

My point is, if 'DRE was still around and Y100 was still on the air, would he still be #1? The 18-34s are moving to satellite, ipods, and soon wifi - somebody should do something! Oh, that's right, we can wake up with Whoopi instead.

I just did a quick search for your posts here on this site, and you are always trying to cut other people down. Why do you have to be that way? If you don't like our show, fine. Although, I suspect you're tuned in every week.
Instead of complaining about the fact that there aren't good threads on this board about radio, here's a novel idea, why don't you start some threads you deem worthy.

I just found the last thread that you started back on October 2nd about the Eagles being on a 7-second delay. Is that compelling??? Hardly, as YSP has had the Eagles on a 7-second delay for years now. It was talked about ad nauseam on WIP when it first happened.

I'm just suggesting that you take stock of your own inventory before commenting on others.

Why are you defending your post about Arby's? I wasn't picking on you, nor was I attacking your post. My point was, I LEGIT'LY attempted to bring a different angle to this conversation, with absolutely NO bashing intentions, to start a decent conversation, and this is what it turns into. My question was straight-forward and neither pro- nor anti- Kidd Chris: if two or three other stations were going after young men, would he still be #1? THAT'S ALL I SAID! I really don't care either way about his show!

Oh, co-master of Philadelphia radio, I deeply apologize for not knowing that WYSP has been running the Eagles on a 7 second delay. You clearly know much more about the minute workings of every radio station in the area much better than I do (after all, you do star on the "show of record"). From now on, I will clear everything I post with you to ensure it is worthy of your time and knowledge. I should have known better and, Kyle (if that's your real name), I apologize. You are so right, yet again. Golly, how did you gain so much knowledge on life? In fact, I'm going to pull a Julius, leave the message board for 30 or 31 hours, post a reply then delete it, then volunteer at an old cart factory to better myself. DAMN IT! Whatever. Either way, you took unwarranted shots at our show. We have scores of folks listening every week, and more with each passing week. Yes, you were attacked by Beejus in a post. What I don't understand is why you then had to turn around and take shots of your own at others.

Yes, by the way, Kidd Chris would still be #1 if 2 or 3 other stations went at his demo. Kidd's show is exactly the right show in today's radio landscape.

Maybe after each show post a summary of what happened, what was said, any news that broke. They keep saying more people listen over the weekend than listen live and this might increase weekend hits.

Main thing he should do is post here instead of the [EDIT]which not even seven people read any more.

Julius is listening. He's allowed online after 10pm, but she doesn't really like him on the phone at that time. He has called, and we do appreciate that. He's a good guy and means no harm.

Thanks for the kind words Fred. I guess you just never know what to expect from folks. I think many of our guests have sparked good conversation, both here and on the show. I think posts about our show are very relevant to this board, or else I wouldn't do it. This board is about Philadelphia radio, we talk predominantly about Philadelphia radio. We try to be informative and entertaining, but you can never please everyone all of the time.

I would like to post more often Fred. This show is a side project for me, which I love dearly, but I do have a 9-5 job and a 9 month old daughter, and I just don't have the time I once did. With all of that being said, I will try to make an effort to post a recap of sorts every week, especially if it was a big news show or something else exciting happened.

I will let you all know at this point that I have lined up a great guest for next week's show (10/20)! I'll be talking to George today, but I assume we'll make the announcement on the show tomorrow night. And, if some things happen before tomorrow night's show, we could have a blockbuster of a guest this week! Keep checking back, and if it gets confirmed I'll let you all know ASAP.

Lastly, I'm not here just to promote the show. I try to contribute to other posts as well. I know not everyone is going to like or appreciate what we do, but sometimes I just don't understand why some people act the way they do on message boards. We do the show because we love radio and more importantly, we like to talk about it. We don't claim to know everything about everything, but we know enough and we have opinions. I know it won't stop all of "negative nellies", but I think it needed to be said.

I never thought - or meant to suggest - you come here only to plug the show. I do think there are people who have spammed this board and other boards on this site, and whose main agenda in posting is to promote something. It is a legitimate concern. But I don't see how a reasonable person can say that you or George have come anywhere close to that.

There was guy doing a Saturday morning interview show on one of the South Jersey stations who used to post his guests for the week. I haven't seen him do that in a while. I never got to hear his show but it sounded interesting. If he's still on, I wish he'd start posting again. If not, let us know what happened.

I wouldn't even mind RJ making reasonable "program announcements" - if he'd be willing to keep it to that.

Those comments weren't aimed at you. I like to think I add to some of the chatter around here. Heck, when I do put info on all of the different boards, I even re-write it.

I don't like "spammers" either, but ultimately don't mind someone letting us know what's going on with their show.

Kidd Chris is an incrediable Jock. He has a following and has a very entertaining show. His ideas are great.
