KIFM is NOT even playing 1 or 2 instrumentals an hour anymore

Well, it looks like KIFM has decided to start scaling down their instrumentals even more by only playing one every 3-4 hours. What a shame, I know this used to be a great Smooth Jazz station back when they had Kelly Cole on the air (of course I'm a Smooth Jazz purist though).

Their experiment has worked in the ratings department where they have been competing with KYXY very well, so kudos go our to Mike V for that.

I will say that this playlist is better than a normal AC station's but KIFM is pushing it. I'll take KTWV's 3-4 instrumentals an hour over this anyday.

See, you are right - if commercial SJ stations would have more diverse playlists and NOT play the same base songs over and over, more people would like it. I don't get why they don't understand your point. That is exactly what my SJ station (WBWH) strives to not be like.

Remember when there was Kyxy, K-Joy and KSWV "The Wave" (the old KSDO FM)? And then there was Y-95, all competing for the AC crowd. Of all of those, Kyxy is the only survivor. I wonder how this new version of KiFM will do?
