Has KTIP ever tried baseball?
oh yes. Was once owned by some MLB jock - Not bein' a fan, I don't recall if it was Dodgers or Angels that KTIP had, but was one of them. Dodgers, I do believe.
[/quoteKTIP had Oakland when it was owned by Monty Moore
Oh ya Monte Moore. Oakland/Aneheim ?? whadoIkno..

Early on, KNGS carried the Angels.
Later the angels were carried by KTIP, and they picked up the A's sometime in the mid-70s.
I don't think the Dodgers were ever on either of those stations (at least pre-1987), but I do remember hearing them on 1400, either then or on later visits to the Central Valley. My last visit was in '93.

I remember 1400 having The Dodgers in the early 80s and 1270 had The Giants then.

Was there ever a time KGEN 1370 carried Baseball, either as a Country format or Music of your life(Standards)?

Dont think so

dont think so

Now that KIGS 620 is back with FOX Sports I'm assuming there is no connection with KCBL 1340 (CC), being that the Dodgers are still on PowerTalk 1400, maybe 620 will do The Angels or The A's.

Are the Dodgers still on 1400? I didn't think so. I could be misremembering but I think I tried during a Giants- Dodger game. I prefer the Giants but I would listen to any ball game most anytime over the standard babble.

Either way 1400 is worthless outside of Visalia-Tulare at night and I don't leave Kings county during my route, but I can take 620 all the way to my driveway in Fresno.

It's been know to happen for talk shows to jump ship for a different station with better coverage (remember with Coast to Coast left then 5000 watt KMJ for KFRE). Wonder if a sports team would?

I wonder if KIGS isn't trying to work something out with the Rawhide, KJUG chose them over the Giants.

Up to 1987 at least, I never heard baseball on KGEN. Didn't make sense, since they were a daytimer.
Generally, major leagues don't contract with daytimers to do baseball

KJUG lost the Giants because of the switch of ESPN KFIG from 1430 to the 50K blowtorch 940, and the fact that 940s transmitter is half-way between Fresno and Visalia.

I saw a listing in the Fresno Bee a few weeks ago showing the Dodgers on both 1340 KCBL and 1400, but checked today and only a listing for 1340, leaving the South Valley with no Dodgers. Maybe KIGS 620 is in the process of getting them and the contract hasn't been finalized yet.
