What the F*#K is KIII doing this time. I use to really like KIII TV, My grand father who lives in Bluntzer has Direct TV and watches it for the news. When I was last down that way back mid July, Me and my cousins who live down there both said that channell 3 isn't on sat. beacuse of not signing a waiver or some kind of documentation, so It requires you to have an off air anttenna. I am fixing to switch to channell 6 or 10 and say screw you 3. My grand father will hear about this as he is a loyal fan of KIII. He gets it kind of fuzzy using a Magnavox smartwave antenna, of course that was during e-skip season. KIII needsto take a look at what they got wether than what they donot have and the owner Mike Mikkinon needs to grow up and do somthing about it.

What do you expect from a station group that still refuses to give their stations a presence on the web?

General stupidity at its highest....KIII is a dying breed in local TV, with better stations in a market 200 miles to the north (SA) obtainable on DISH/DirectTV. KIII should be happy they still at least have viewers. KXXV in Waco has pulled similar bull with the cable company about "must carry" and blocking WFAA in dallas, save for local programming. Most people in the Waco/Temple/Kileen market have moved to to a dish setup where they either watch Dallas or Austin market stations, which has shot their numbers to hell.

Gotta agree with you. It's stupidity to the maximum level. When people want to watch your station, you should make it easier, not more difficult. That's common sense at its simplest. Nexstar Broadcasting has been pulling this same stunt with cable operators over the last few years. Cable One in Joplin, MO had a pretty good solution to the problem since Nexstar controls both the NBC and ABC affiliates in the market. They offer an A/B switch to their customers so they can switch between cable and antenna at no charge. They may even offer antennas to their customers as well. There's also a rumor that Cable One may push NBC to disaffiliate KSNF.

It doesn't sound as though KIII has changed much in the 8 years since I left the station. Let them pump in KSAT or KTRK instead.

Unfortunately, that's not an option during network programming. KIII can invoke must-carry even if it doesn't consent to being carried on cable. Since neither KSAT nor KTRK puts a citygrade signal into Nueces County and neither is considered significantly viewed there, they can't get around must-carry.

Knowing McKinnon Broadcasting, they would.

Not true, my Aunt and Uncle have a VU 75XR antenna from radioshack about 50 or so ft in the air because they have a two story house near Bluntzer they can pick up KSAT with alot of static but is wachable. As for KTRK Houston I have seen the signal but never watched it.

You're missing the point. What you can pick up with an antenna 50 feet in the air does not constitute a grade A signal. The grade B signal contour of KSAT does not go much past Beeville. A station may put a signal out past the grade B contour, but that still won't get you around must-carry unless you're "significantly viewed." You need to put a grade A signal contour into a county or be "significantly viewed" in that county to get around must-carry. A staticy but watchable signal will not consitute "significantly viewed" in most cases (unless there's no alternative), and no station will be "sigificantly viewed" when you need a 50 ft antenna to pick it up because most people don't have 50 ft antennas. If you're curious, you can get the signficantly viewed list from the FCC here (WARNING! Is large file (almost 450 pages) and opens in another window). Nueces County is on page 389, and only KRIS, KZTV and KIII are on the list.

I see the point and not arguing against that, what I'm trying to say is that my family can normally pick up a watchable signal from KSAT back out of San Antonio. Yes, that station isn't in thier market, but it is just like me picking up KXII CBS 12 out of Sherman from Carrollton (Northwest Dallas County). It just gives me another affiliate of ABC, CBS, ect... to choose from
