KIII - Time Warner Cable Corpus Christi

Well the third time seems to be the charm as KIII TV (3-ABC) Corpus Christi has again failed to reach agreement with the local cable company. This time however, TWC has added KAVU Victoria (25-ABC)in it's place. You have to wonder how much leverage 3 in Corpus Christi has now...

I dont know if I should laugh at this or cry, Ch.3 has once again dropped the ball for The Redneck Riveria. I have a feeling they may have a few challenges to their license when it comes up for renewal., perhaps something about "serving the public interest". I dont blame TWC in this issue for the fact they actually went down to the wire and were willing to give into some of the "conditions" Ch 3. threw down on the table. In the end, its a business decision that TWC had to make, run an ABC affiliate thats out of market and cheaper to acquire or stay with the one in market and bend to their outrageous demands..in the end, TWC made the right choice.

Is KIII actually worse now than KZTV, the longtime dog of the market?

And can someone please run Mr. McKinnon out of town? Any town that he's in, be it Corpus, Beaumont or San Diego? Puh-leeze!! If you're being compared in any way to KZTV, it's OVER!

If I were you I would say laugh and I'm Laughing at them not With them.
KIII sucks My grandfather and family, Who are loyal fan's of KIII's news will be hearing about this. This is beyond stupid, and beyond pissing me off. Time Warner is making a move up here to Dallas, so help me if one of the Dallas stations pulls this BS I'm switching to SAT since I have an off air Antenna. When is this going to end? I hope they know they are lossing Viewers not that they give a crap anyway. But anyother ABC affiliate is better than KIII.

Importing KAVU?

This seems surprising...why is KIII allowing TW to import KAVU? KIII is the ABC affiliate for the market; TW can carry additional ABC affiliates provided they carry the local one. If they aren't carrying KIII, they cannot import KAVU to replace it, particularly since KAVU's signal doesn't cover the area and has no significant viewing audience there.

They can carry KAVU if they want, provided they black out the ABC programming and any syndicated programming a local station has paid exclusive rights to carry.

Nexstar had a whole round of cable battles last year over compensation and yanked their stations off many systems (KRBC 9 Abilene, KTAL 6 Texarkana-Shreveport, KSNF 16 Joplin, etc.). I recall some FCC rulings where Nexstar got KJRH 2 Tulsa (NBC) off cable systems in the Joplin market while KSNF (NBC) was off the systems.

I'm surprised Time Warner has retransmission consent from KAVU.
Suppose they're paying KAVU?

Well you can guess what station I will not be watching down south. I will tune to KRIS or KZTV before I ever go back to KIII<P ID="signature">______________
