KIII-TV 3 in Corpus Christi to be Sold

The Texas network concept didn't work so well for the Telemundo O&Os in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. They've gone their separate ways while sharing Dallas production resources.

Some options that aren't part of huge groups: KRGV in the Valley, KOSA in Midland, KTEN in Sherman/Denison, KFDA in Amarillo, KJTV in Lubbock and the Saga stations in Victoria (KAVU, etc.).

London Broadcasting had a deal in place a couple of years ago to acquire KFDA, along with siblings KXXV Waco, KWES Midland-Odessa, and KSWO Lawton (Wichita Falls.) The sale fell through (I never heard exactly why) with the collapsing economy likely a factor.

Buena suerte getting the Manships to let go of KRGV! I can't even begin to imagine the kind of check that would take........

Hopefully, London Broadcasting could get their hands on a Laredo station (KGNS or KVTV). Like NBC on KBMT-dt2 and ABC on KTEN-dt3, they could add ABC on a subchannel of a potential Laredo affiliate.

Does this Texas network concept include new programming? If it does, KTEN already has three subchannels. Where would the new programming go: onto 10.2 shared with the CW?

There are some TV stations that use more than three of its subchannels on their digital signal:

Some of the TBN stations do FIVE and the higher subchannels look like dial-up Youtube. You can't stretch the bandwidth that much without the picture suffering.

Since they want to stay out of the top 4 markets - may they be looking at possibly a partnership with Belo - who owns 4 stations in the 4 markets???

Could get interesting...

Yes - I'm familiar with TXCN (though I can't get it where I am...) - but putting together a partnership might make sense for shared news gathering across the state, as well as alternative Texas-based programming...

"Dial-up Youtube..." :D

At least TBN isn't trying to run HD. As bad as some of the stations mentioned above may look, the champion for overtaking the plumbing has to be KXII. Only 3 subchannels, but 2 are in HD!
